I need your help! I’m having a really frustrating time finding the right music for our cocktail hour. Months ago, my FI said he liked the idea of a classical/flamenco guitarist, so I combed through dozens of them and when I finally showed him my top choices, the FI said the music was too slow and boring and stuffy and he wanted it more fun and upbeat. What? at a cocktail hour? I wanted it to be elegant, and I think it totally is, but now he wants something more like soft rock/pop/oldies.
Fine. Not what I had it mind, but whatever. Problem is, I’m having the hardest time finding anyone good/reputable. Any time you search for “wedding musician” all you get are harpists, violinists, string quartests, etc. FI doesn’t want classical, jazz, or swing. I don’t want to hire s grad school kid or someone off craigslist – I want it to be a reputable professional. We tried gigmasters, but weren’t too crazy about anyone out there.
Any thoughts on how to search for “fun upbeat wedding music?”
We are in Los Angeles by the way, if you have a specific artist recommendation.
