IDK if something like this would work for your venue, but we decided to do "Going to the chapel".. it always puts a smile on my face
HannahT, we're recessional twins! Me and my FI are also walking out to the chorus of "Happy Together."
One band you may want to look into is the Vitamin String Quartet. It's just strings, no vocals, and they play a lot of instrumental versions of popular music. That way no one can complain about the language because, well, there is none! Good luck!
Good call on the recessional song, MsAnnaLytical!
I love the brassy sound of the chorus--it's so celebratory!
I second Vitamin String Quartet! Just look them up on iTunes, you'll get hooked. I love "All You Need is Love" too! Good idea, Quiche :)
My DH and I walked to "Life is a Highway" by Rascal Flatts. Upbeat, fun, and an appropriate song as we took our first steps down the highway of married life, which we're gonna ride all night long :D (wow that sounds cheesy...haha)...
If you want "Im Yours" for your song, you can probably find a version of it with that word silenced out. Either go talk to your local radio station (they probably do it all the time), or go to a store that specializes in music recording equiptment or something like that. I'm sure they can edit the song for you. :) Good luck!

Here are even more:
Our song is Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen. We wanted something upbeat but unexpected.
We are using Stevie Wonder "For Once in My Life"
When I hear the opening ...I imagine it starting to play right when we kiss! :-)
I am really excited for this part of my wedding. I think it will fit perfectly
I always thought Love Train by the O'Jays would be really cute. You're My Best Friend by Queen is pretty good too.
We're using God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, that's sort of upbeat.
If you're really set on that song the instrumental version sounds like a great possibility!
Beautiful Day by U2. As ridiculous as it sounds, we might even use Mele Kalikimaka just because we like it (even though we're having an August wedding and our families will think we're nuts) OR! Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours.
we did SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED by stevie wonder. and it was soooooo fun!!
I am seriously considering doing the "Indiana Jones" theme because our life adventure will be beginning and that's a movie I'm a huge fan of..and also having "Gone With the Wind" theme played as the party and guests move to reception!
As I stated in one of the previous threads, we also plan on Signed Sealed Delivered... but then we went to a lot of Obama rallies, so it is extremely fitting for us!
My stb BIL had "Johnny B Good" at his wedding last year played. And we are all die-hard McCain-iacs on both sides of our family! His brother is having a baby boy this May, (John Jr. most likely) so somehow that will probably be rockin too on our day!
Yeah, I kind of hope my family doesn't realize where I fell in love with the song... because they are so politically conservative that they don't even like McCain. (He's way too liberal for them :) I really hope politics doesn't come up at all during the wedding... and I think I should start a thread about that!
I'm not gonna start a thread about that either. Luckily, my family is similar in thought. But my bff? She's totally opposite from me, but we love each other dearly and gently respect our opinions. The mere fact we CARE enough to make a stand on anything, means that we want our country to be as great as it can be! And believe it or not, we never have had one arguement. We've both held officies in our political affiliations, and have the greatest love and respect for one another. We're kinda like the best friends version of Mary Matalin and James Carville!
Back to topic..another fun song I heard was "Do You Love Me"? From Dirty Dancing. Was great..then it was blended into the other song "Time of My Life".
Very cool. Kinda a retro feel. Plus I loved that movie so much...
We used "Wouldn't it be nice" by the Beach Boys. It was soo cute.
We used "Here comes the Sun". It was great for us. Very upbeat and happy and seemed appropiate for the occasion.
I'm contemplating a modern pop song like Jaicko's Fast Forward song as oure recessional song! ;) I think the words are very fitting....
Now I just have to see if my FI is okay with it..haha.
Good luck!
We used an acoustic guitar version of "All I need is Love" It was awesome!!!!!
And Now I smile whenever I here it!
Bittersweet Symphany by THE VERVE
As soon as I listened to it - I could just picture us smiling, leaving the church! :)
Hmm..okay, so maybe the Jaicko song I mentioned is a better Reception song...
What bout the idea of 'You & Me' by Dave Matthews as recessional song...
Is that a good choice?
We finally were able to decide on a recessional song - not modern as I thought..haha..but still fun -
Happy Together - by The Turtles! :)
(as some other bees mentioned they had for theirs. :) Should be fun!)

I went to a wedding this past summer and the song they played for their recessional was an oldie, but it was very upbeat and fun. I am looking for a similiar song... but I am stuck thus far. My FI and I liked Im Yours, but the chorus has the word d*** in it. Since our ceremony is taking place in a church this was out of the question. The song will just be played on a CD so my options are endless, it just needs to have church appropriate lyrics, but can be a secular song. Any ideas?
