Men don't get it.  He probably doesn't realize that it's up against your cervix so that he doesn't just go through it!

lol. I have never seen a diaphram either, I've only used the pill. I may try the "ring", (I can't remember how to spell the correct name) if I stop liking the pill.

I might have to go on a non-hormonal BC option later.  Doctors are planning a surgery for me but have hormone therapy for me if that doesn't work which means I have to go off BCP.

Yeah, we are too young for sterilization, no doctor would even consider it.  Thankfully, I don't have problems with the pills.

i'm older (29) and i already have a son so for me i'm okay with it (and have been considering it off and on since i was about 25) M and I really don't want more kids but we'll see...

and yeah it is definitely soul searching to consider the sterilization route.

i have decided to stop taking the pill as my hormones started to go funny when i turned 26 acne and sweating which I had never had probs with b4. I went off the pill and my doctor said he would put me on a diff one once my period returned it took 7 months for my period to come back, and it has gone away again for over 2 months. so I have decided that I dont want to play around with hormones anymore. I am looking into using a diaphram, what is the ring?

The ring is a low dose hormone BC method.  You insert it and keep it in for 3 weeks and then have it out for 1 week.  So it's sort of like the pill.  You have a steadier stream of hormones with it though.

@crebre80: That's a funny story about the diaphragm!  How do you like the diaphragm?  It's on the short list of things I'm considering for birth control.

@simpleandchic: the stick in your arm is hormonal, so if you're looking to get off hormones, that's probably not what you'd want.  I just stopped taking the pill because the hormones were driving me crazy, and I'm looking to get a copper IUD.  From the research I've done, the only non-hormonal birth control options out there are the copper IUD, diaphragm, and condoms.

I had it years ago and well I became pregnant with my son, but I was only using it half of the time that I had sex.  I am much more responsible now.  I haven't tried the deed with M yet with it in, but I'll definitely check back and let you know how it goes.

And although the copper IUD is nonhormonal, the copper can sometimes screw with your body.

Anyone considering a tubal.............  seriously weigh out all options before hand.  Then make sure it is 100% your decision and not someone elses.  I had one when I was 21 and am kicking myself in the rear for it now after meeting the man of my dreams.
