Today we stopped by the Flower Shack in Santa Cruz (we were checking out the bakery next door for cakes), and FI was like, so what flowers do we need? do you want like a bouquet?  I was like, yes (since it's a very small wedding), probably just a bouquet and do you want a boutinniere?

And Fi says.."Hold on, so like you just hold a bouquet?

Me: "Yeah you know...you walk down the aisle with a bouquet.  Bridal bouquet..."

FI: And then what do you do with it?

Me: Keep holding it, or give it someone else to hold while we exchange vows...

FI:  Are you sure? I don't remember any brides holding any bouquets at the weddings I've gone to...are you sure you're supposed to do that?

I don't know where he's been haha!  Once they gave us the pricing sheet, it had "bridal bouquet" as the first item, so then he was like "oh yeah I guess you're right, it is a thing..."

Anything your FI has been completely clueless about?!

LOL! My FH is pretty much up on wedding things, but he just found out that there was such a thing called  "wedding planner" when we started dating. He always thought that there was a bossy lady telling everyone what to do, he never realized that that "bossy lady" was a wedding planner. lol

Yeah when we first started talking about getting engaged the boy saw something about a $500 dollar engagement ring and said "holy crap why would you spend so much money on something you're not even going to wear after the wedding!??!?" I wasn't sure which problem to address first. A year later he still might have some sticker shock thinking about jewelry prices.

Poor guy... he's got a point though - besides walking down the aisle and some of the photos, bride doesn't exactly haul that thing around with her! During the ceremony the MOH gets stuck holding it and ... well where DOES it go for the reception anyway?

Haha yeah now that I think about it is it sort of funny, you hold it to walk down the aisle and then give it to someone else to hold. I guess it's one of those things we take as given, but for a guy or anyone else, it wouldn't really make sense?!

I was surprised because in other ways he seems pretty informed about what "should" be in a wedding.  Like we're getting married outdoors, and he was like don't we need one of those arches? So I guess he notices some things!

There are so many...I wouldn't know where to begin.  It seems like everytime we talk about something new he is totally clueless.  LOL.  All I can do is laugh and just shake my head.

My FI and I watch bridezillas, so he's pretty informed.

The thing that always makes me laugh about that show, is how they wait till the last week to do EVERYTHING!  No wonder they go crazy!

Hahaha  I love it.  Your FI seems like he's trying to understand, at least!  :)  And he's right, it does seem kind of pointless to spend so much money on one bouquet that you only get to hold for a little while.  If you're looking to save a little money on your flowers, you can use it (and all of the girls bouquets) for centerpieces for your head table at the recpetion.  Soooo much cheaper than buying seperate centerpieces that are going to look similar to the bouquets anyway.  :)

centerpieces. My FI didn't know that we were supposed to put anything on the table but the food. and he doesn't understand WHY we would put anything on the tables but food. "we're buying these people dinner and serving them alcohol, why the hell do they care what the center of the table looks like?!" hahha

Haha yeah it really makes you take a step back and see the perspective of someone not immersed in the wedding planning and what you "should" have at the wedding, or what the wedding industry says you should have!

lol. That is too funny! My FI and I have been to a lot of weddings recently, and I think he is attuned to wedding things, it's actually kind of funny to me that when I am trying to decide something or I might mention a detail and he gives me tons of feedback, which I think is a little out of the norm for a boy! :P
