It's a nasty, nasty day outside in NYC today. My husband and I had a play we were supposed to go see today. I wasn't really feeling up to it because for one, I feel like I'm starting to catch something, and 2, the wind Ive been hearing outside sounds awful! But, my husband already bought the tickets so I was just going to suck it up. We both got semi-dressed up and were ready to go. We walked out and before we even made it to the next house over, our umbrella was destroyed. It flipped inside out and was fighting with a vengeance so as not to be righted again. Eventually my husband wrestled it into compliance, but it was so infuriated, that it basically tried eating him. I was of course laughing so hard and helpless. He starts laughing because I'm laughing, and we just gave up on the umbrella and decided to continue on without it. Not to be outdone, the umbrella starts trying to open itself up on it's own, so my husband had to carry it by the wet part, but that was the end of his struggle. We weren't the only ones who gave up on our umbrella. Of the two other people as stupid as we were to go out, they weren't using the umbrellas they carried either. We decide maybe we should take a bus the rest of the 4ish blocks we needed to walk to get to the train, but we soon realized we may need to buy a metrocard at the train station, so we set out on your way once again. We get to the corner of the street and see a downed powerline sparking. Good thing we don't need to go that way! So we crossed and we see yet another downed powerline swinging gracefully in the air. That was enough for us. We turned to head back. I was running across the street and I felt like my body was being contorted into a C shape because of the wind strength (as in, leaning to my side, not leaning forward). We make it nearly back to our door, when my husbands suggests that we could probably just go to the grocery store now since it's a much shorter walk. I promply look across the street and see a bright yellow pedestrian crosing sign on the ground. Can you guess what we decided? lol I probably should have taken it as a sign not to go out today when our bedroom light was faintly flickering every time the wind blew.

So now, we're going to stay in and have pasta for dinner because that's all that is in our cabinets. Maybe we'll watch a movie and have popcorn with taco seasoning on it as a special treat lol

So, we ventured outside to the store today. When we walked out, we were scanning the area to see the damage (didn't seem like there was much tbh) but we did see this at our apartment garbage cans! Gave us a laugh

Basically all of Manhattan was littered with umbrellas today lol

@thisisme- We didn't really want to see it anyway lol It was kind of an obligatory thing because my husband knew someone performing in it

Saturday was a miserable day to be out, but a great day to shop.  Momma and I hit Macy's and Lord & Taylor looking for a dress for me to wear to FH's friend's black tie wedding.  Macy's was sort of nutty & full of tourists as usual, but L&T was EMPTY!!!!  I ended up getting an amazing dress and am actually almost as excited about it as I am my wedding dress.  (Doesn't help that I haven't seen my wedding dress since October and won't be wearing it until October, whereas this fancy wedding is in May...)

In case anyone likes looking at dresses...
