    Hello -

One of the sites I'm considering for a reception in NYC is the Glass Houses which is an event space with walls that are all glass (picture breathtaking views of NYC at night).  Included in the site rental fee are two floors (14 and 21) which require an elevator to get back and forth.

We have too many guests (150) to allow both dinner and dancing on the same floor so we were going to have dinner on floor 14 and dancing on floor 21.  Of course that means that we have to furnish two floors!!!

The dinner floor is easy....standard tables and chairs.  For the floor with dancing, we wanted to create a south beach lounge feel but had a reality check with we priced it out.  We need to ensure our guests have places to sit when they're not dancing but renting lounge furniture (sofas, ottomans, etc.) is too expensive.  Have any of you been in a similar situation and if so, how did you decorate/furnish this "second" room?

I have read the various postings and think you guys dispense such wonderful advice, ideas, etc.  Thank you in advance for any thoughts you may have!

What about tall cocktail/cafe table with some tall chairs/bar stools scattered around the tables in case people need to rest their feet?

Are a tall, long communal style table with tall chairs would be nice. Will there be a bar? Can you do some type of seating around that?

I agree, cocktail tables might be a better way to go as far as expense is concerned. I would consider the need for decor/seating in the dance area. I usually want somewhere to put my purse, somewhere to leave/set a drink down, and somewhere to sit for a break and chat. I would definitely recommend some kind of seating and cocktail tables if nothing else, just so your guests have somewhere to break.

Can your rental company do double duty with any of the furnishings from dinner?
