Give it time.  Siblings go through stuff, and sometimes it might seem like there is NO fixing it, but when it comes to family, you really truly never know – and more often than not, it blows over, and when it comes to brothers/sisters, it becomes water under the bridge fairly quickly.  Hopefully the replacement will understand when/if your FI and his brother reconcile.

I agree with mandypop unless it was something really horrendous and epic I think it will more then likly blow over, sometimes even though we are grownups it easy to revert to our behavior from childhood maybe everyone needs a time out and cooling off period for a little bit!

I would possibly send him a letter on your behalf telling him that even though he and your Fi had a falling out you would love it if he still attended the wedding even as a guest. If having him there is really important to you then make the effort to let him know ….

Wish you luck
