I had heard about that and find it ridiculous! Yet another example of people adding fees as soon as they find out whatever you are doing is wedding realted (like "bridal updos", "wedding catering packages", etc). Will the park police chase off tourists who are taking photos at the monuments as well, I wonder?
The post ran this story during "wedding week" back in 2008-- it seems to fit nicely with this theme.
you dont need a permit really -if you are taking wedding and engagement pictures they hardly care - we had our engagement pictures at the lincoln memorial and narry a person came up to us to say a word. you definately need a permit however if you have like a ton of cameras, a lighting guy, etc stuff tha tmakes you a professional outfit that you are obvious about...but yeah they cant make you have a permit for your wedding pics. thats not gonna happen. people take photos there allllllll the time. tourists and wedding folks alike.

Just wanted to let you all know that I just found out that the National Parks Services (the ones that service the National Mall, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, etc) charge a permit fee for you to take pictures at these sites! The fees start at $50 and go up. You can look it up on their website. Just wanted y'all to know so you won't get pushed out by the cops on your wedding day!
