I’m sad for the 3900 out of 4000 protesters who really wanted to have a peaceful protest yesterday.  Their message is totally getting lost because of these hooligans dressed in black.  I can’t believe this happened in Toronto.

@nerdette- We went through the G20 here in Pittsburgh in the fall. You’re right, it’s not fun. I felt like the city was violated. You can’t help how people get their kicks, though. They really need to find another hobby. Hope it blows over soon! <3

I am so ashamed (originally from Toronto) – this is not how Torontonians/Canadians act!

It’s disgusting!

The same thing happened in Vancouver during the Olympics.  Some people were there to have fun, some were protesting peacefully, and a handful were just getting their kicks being destructive.  I think at the end of the day, they actually were teenagers from Washington, and had no idea what the protesters position even was.  Just wanted to put on their masks and break a few windows.  It’s such a shame.

ETA – granted our hooligans were on a smaller scale

A very good friend of mine is in Toronto, so I’ve been staying up to date on what’s going on. I know it’s affecting business, transportation… I just hope all of you stay safe!

I saw the news cast and was SO disgusted. Those effing “Black Bloc” people need to get a life (or arrested, or both).

Though it was kind of funny when CTV kept showing this one clip of about three people trying to break this one window…they were whacking it with bats and throwing things and kicking it, and it wouldn’t break. So they all gave up and ran away, but not before chucking something at it in rage. It made me happy for the window, LOL.

Ya I keep watching it and praying for the police and RCMP that are downtown trying to control things.  My Cousin and one of my bridesmaids’ husbands are down at university/college area and have been working 19 hours straight trying to get some control… so sad! And, as many others said, embarassing!!!  I’m all for freedom and speech and the rights to protest… but vandalism and violence is not how it needs to be shown!!  It will all be over soon enough!!

So disgusting…. I don’t know why they bothered to show up if all they were going to do was get in trouble. This really makes Toronto-nians look bad :/…
