I’m on the couch with the kitties, enjoying the last day of my vacation – and trying to get started on our gift registry. Holy crap there is a lot of STUFF out there. You enter blender on the BB&B website and get 398549349845 results. Reading the reviews are overwhelming, and some of them are written so stupidly that I don’t know if they can be taken seriously.
I can’t be the only one doing this? I’m registering at BB&B and VivaTerra.
So whats a thing/gadget you have that you really love? It can be something you got off your registry or just bought for yourself.
I’ll go first – The Mr. bought one of those little electric fake fireplace/woodstove things for Christmas for me last year and I’m in LOVE with it. You can definitely tell its fake, but when its on and you’re just watching a movie or something, its pretty, and looks real out of the corner of your eye – plus, for a little thing – it throws a surprising amount of heat. Its perfect for warming up hands and toes when you first get in the house on a cold day. Oh, the cats love it too, haha.

@mandypop: i’m sure a lot of people have these but i love having a iphone/ipod speakers – my SIL bought it for us for xmas last year and i use it all the time! especially when cleaning or doing stuff around the house. It plugs in but you can also put batteries in it which is great for the beach or weekend getaways.

I LOVE my Cuisinart ice cream maker. It’s awesome. I haven’t bought ice cream in almost a year because it’s so easy and delicious to make it myself!
Also, someone threw in a bunch of random stuff in one of our shower gifts, and one of them was this little thing that clips onto the edge of a pot and holds a spoon (so it’s not IN the pot, but hovering over it so if it drips, the drips go into the pot)… it probably cost like $2 but it’s GREAT!
Also this probably goes without saying, but my KitchenAid stand mixer is my absolute favorite. My hand mixer died and I never even got a new one because the KitchenAid is so wonderful!

I love so many things, but something I got that I didn’t realize how much I would actually use, is a garlic press

I love my Sony e-reader. It is defintely my favorite gadget that I own!
For the kitchen, I love my Pampered Chef food chopper (and all other brands of these I’ve ever tried have been terrible but the Pampered Chef one is awesome).

That KitchenAid is such a standard registry thing that I almost did it automatically – but – what do you actually prepare in it? And how often? I’m just wondering if I’d use it for anything that I can’t use my food processor or a blender for.

I big puffy heart my iPad2! As for home/kitchen, I’ve really been loving my Kitchenaid Pro lately. When I first got it for my shower I didn’t really use it much but after baking a few dozen holiday cookies, it’s just about my best friend.

@mandypop: All of my baking goes in my KitchenAid – it was so handy at Christmas!

I really like the Zyliss Susi 2 garlic press I asked for and received.
Kitchenaid, check. That was a merry-christmas-to-me, when my spouse finally caved a year or so before we were married.
I know that a lot of people really like their hand immersion blender things.
I also really like adjustable measuring spoons and cups, though they’re a lot harder to find now. Pampered Chef used to make them and doesn’t anymore. My mom leaves a one cup adjustable in the flour and one in the sugar – so handy!

ahhh there are so many good things. But I love my Martha Stewart knife set

I also have an electric fireplace (got it for Christmas this year!) & I LOVE it!
But obviously you already have that.
Deep fryer is a big one! My husband & I got it for Christmas as well & we make SO many yummy things in it! Deep fried oreos, funnel cake, chicken, french fries, YUMMMMM!
Picture of a funnel cake because I love a visual! LOL
The deep fryer makes everything pretty dang fast, too!
We also got a bigger George Foreman & I LOVE it! It cooks bacon, steak, burgers & grilled cheese so fast that I can make dinner or lunch & even breakfast in less than 15 minutes on nights I don’t feel look making a huge meal!
A yummy thing to make with the deep fryer & grill together is a onion ring/bacon burger! Make your hamburger patty on the grill, also the bacon. Then in the deep fryer make some onion rings. Add everything on the burger (including the onion rings) then whatever else you like (cheese, bbq sauce, ect) & there you have it!
