Hi! I’m looking to do a vow renewal ceremony on the beach, in Galveston, the day before my cruise that leaves may 11, 2014. I want something small, me, my man & about 10 guests. I have my minister & photographer already and want no reception. Just vows and some great photos. Can anyone tell me if there are any beaches where I can do this cheaply, free would be even better! Also I read something about needing a beach permit. Does anyone know about this? I live in oklahoma and I’m having a hard time finding any info, so I came here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Why not try calling the Parks and Rec office of your destination?

HI! Congrats on your vow renewal! I think the challenge may be finding a free space. While most public beaches are free of course, the issue is that they are also public. So you really can’t ask or expect people to move to accomodate you. We did a wedding on a beach in Key West, and while the space was free, we had to photoshop the homeless guy sleeping on the picnic table out of all the photos.

I got married in Galveston this past February. We were told that as long as you’re not setting up any equipment (tents, chairs, flowers) then you don’t need a beach permit. If you want to private message me, I can provide you with answers to any specific questions.
