My mom got married in 1984 and I got married in 2012. I tried my mom’s dress on while I was engaged and it fit but it wasn’t really my style. I could’ve altered it and worn it but I’m happy I got my own! My mom’s veil had a custom flower at the top to match her dress. This picture is bad but it’s the only one I have in my home (saved newspaper clipping from a wedding announcement). The top is lace with little bell short sleeves (you can see in the picture), then a waistline and then the skirt just falls in an a-line. The only notable detail on the bottom is a ruffle on the bottom, like a tier, but there’s just one. Her flowers were lavender and yellow.

My mom’s dress in 1975 (ugly…. haha.  She got rid of it pretty soon after)

@rosworms:  Oh cool; how did you incorporate her dress into your wedding/dress?

@loving_life:  LOL, I couldn’t find a way since we had such a small wedding.

So I ended up making a ‘veil’ for my mouse ear hat (disney world wedding/honeymoon). thank goodness my mom was on board and thought it was great since she knows that disney is very important to me.

you can kinda see it in this picture (bonus: my parents a little over 30 after their wedding). i used a bit from the skirt of the dress.

@Miss Circe:  Haha, well I still couldnt any way. They didnt take any pictures. Or if they did, they never got them developed. It was just a courthouse wedding because my mom got pregnant. XD

@allyfally:  Sounds like we have similar moms. Mine also had a courthouse wedding and she wore blue jeans, a white shirt and a mauve jacket a la Dorothy of the Golden Girls. It was the 80s and she could have cared less about wearing a dress,   lol.

My mom has never talked about her wedding or if she wore a dress so I have no idea but I do have photos of my grandmother in her dress.

@HappilyEverAfter54:  Hey, I remember you! I stalked your dress posts/comments for a while. I love your dress. 🙂

I love your grandma’s dress too! Keep that ballgown tradition going, hehe.

@rosworms:  XD awesome, thank you =)

I actually wanted to wear her dress… or if it couldn’t be altered to fit me I would have used parts of it and had it recreated but she couldn’t find it. She came with me to pick my dress out though lol.
