Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes! We are a garlic loving family too! I based mine of the recipe from the Food Network Show- Down Home with the Neely's and it is sooo good!
That sounds like a tradition I'm gonna have to adopt. I'm not even kidding. We adore garlic lol. There's a great cheesy/garlic-y dip that goes with crackers that I'd love to suggest to you- but the recipe is at my house and I'm not there to get it. Ugh, I'm no help!
just whole clove roasted garlic is awesome!!!!!!!!
We make an anchovy-garlic pasta, its basically just a tin of anchovies, a LOT of garlic, handful of parsley, spaghetti, lemon and olive oil. In the time it takes to cook the pasta, heat the oil, add in the garlic (don't let it brown), add in the anchovies (they will kind of melt a part), toss in the parsley and the cooked pasta and squeeze liberally with lemon. So good (and not overwhelmingly "anchovy" tasting either, surprisingly)
I LOOOOOVE garlic. I live right behind a Mellow Mushrom pizza place and always end up getting a plain cheese with tons of chunky garlic on top. MMMMM.
mmm. garlic. ever made homeade hummus? homeade roasted garlic humous is amazing!!
omg. i love garlic. use it excessively. I love to roast it and just EAT the little pods of soft mushy, carmelized garlic.
I love me some garlic dragon breath! only on me though =]
I tried to make pickled garlic once but YUCK
YUM!! I was born and raised in California and I always LOVED driving through Gilroy because of the garlic smell :] I would have to second roasted garlic hummus!!! Yummy :]
I agree with ejs4y8 just roast a few heads and serve with a toasted french bread slices or to spice it up, serve with a sundried tomato bread!
Thanks for the suggestions, Id love hear more! I think we are also going to go to a greek cafe by our house and get scordalia dip - its a dip made with tons of garlic, bread crumbs, olive oil and lemon juice and its delicious!
Last year we filled up an entire small wastebasket with garlic peels!!! Im very excited for this year :)
Hold the phone- there's a garlic festival? Hubby Burgundy is obsessed with garlic like you would not even believe. We may need to attend this garlic festival!
@ejs - my mom makes pickled garlic (with homegrown garlic!) and I hear it's pretty tasty. I'm a garlic fan, but I'm a bit afraid of pickled garlic.
How about sauteed spinach with garlic? Fast and easy:

My favourite garlicky treats are hummous (chick peas, olive oil, lemon, garlic, tahine, salt), super garicky caesar salad and steak sandwiches with garlic-horseradish spread. I make the spread with mayo, lemon, fresh crushed garlic and horseradish. Mmmmm I'm gonna have to go garlic up some food now! Have fun with your garlic festival! :)
Miss Burgandy - yep its in Gilroy every year, the last full weekend in July. Heres a link to it : http://www.gilroygarlicfestival.com/
Or you can come to ours :)
We love garlic! I agree that little red potatoes quartered and then TONS of fresh garlic are the best. We make them where the potatoes almost mash themself so its kinda like half mashed, half quartered potatoes all with the skins still on them.
We also do thinly sliced potatoes and saute them in some olive oil with onions and garlic (tons of garlic). The extra onions and garlic make a great topping for a steak.
@jduck, it had a bite like garlic does but the pickled flavor just ruined it for me. It was SUPER crunchy too. It's just not a flavor combo i go for. Very pickles+garlic. I just didn't like it. Followed the directions to a T, made a small batch, let it chill in the fridge, nope.
i love garlic. I like to cook a roast and cut little slits in the meat and stick whole cloves in. mmmm.
Roasted Garlic Hummus=amazing. I love hummus and i always end up adding too much garlic (I KNOW! Yes...it is possible). Roasting the garlic first makes it a bit more bareable. But then I have roasted garlic laying around and I eat it...all.
Garlicky Shrimp! America's Test Kitchen has an amazing recipe for it. You'll have to check it out. They also have Garlic Shrimp with buttered bread crumbs and garlicky shrimp pasta.
I love garlic. In most things! One of our favorite garlicky recipes is this Chicken 40 Cloves from Alton Brown. My husband makes it with a side of crusty bread, so you can spread the roasted garlic on the bread. YUM! Also, my favorite Lebanese restaurant has this amazing garlic dip that you can spread on pita bread. I found a recipe that is reportedly similar to the original here.
I love garlic. If I had to pick, I'd say my favorite foods in that category are a toss up between garlic bread and garlic chicken from the local Thai place. And it makes for some weird dreams at night though. LOL
Garlic..mmmmmmm! LOVE garlic bread and garlic mashed potatoes!
@speulie I just checked out the garlic chicken recipe you posted. Oh my gosh...I'm definately making that...simple, easy and sounds delish!!!!
OMG we LOVE garlic! Seriously, we put garlic in EVERYTHING! Our favorite is pepperoni and roasted garlic pizza. Well that and homemade hummus in which I put 4 extra cloves in. YUM!
I went to a restaurant in Estonia (Baltic state in Europe) and the entire menu was garlic- and I mean everything! Including garlic ice cream which was actually better than I thought it would be.
I just remembered a recipe we did last year - Garlic, Lime and Tequila marinated Flank Steak. DELICIOUS! Heres the recipe if anyone wants its, we are making it for dinner tonight :)

garlic fesitval? Um yes please! :) love me some garlic, so does DH which is good since we get some narsty breath!
Garlic is indeed yummy!!! I go to the local farmers market and get this garlic cheese that is amazing!
You might not believe me but...if you really love garlic you have to try this!
Husband makes the most delicious homemade ice cream and one of the most unique flavors he does is...
Garlic Ice Cream with Caramel Molé Sauce
We first tried it at the Stinking Rose Restaurant in Beverly Hills (their motto is "We season our garlic with food") and then he recreated it at home. The sauce it what really makes it.
I dare you to try it.
I will totally try it! I hope to get an icre cream maker soon and was already planning on looking for a recipe for garlic ice cream!!!
Yummmm I love garlic too. Definitely agree with ejs about the roasted garlic. I don't know about garlic ice cream though, but if I ever stumble on some I'll definitely give it a try!
I LOVE garlic! I found a recipe posted on another forum some time ago for lamb and garlic in the crock pot- lamb shanks or stew meat, rosemary, baby carrots, and an entire head of garlic. Cover everything with red wine and let it cook in the crock pot for like 8 hours. Serve over mashed potatoes. SO good, but so garlicy that you smell like it forever!

Who LOVES garlic?? DH and I wanted to go up to Gilroy for their annual garlic festival last year but couldnt make it so DH and I had our own garlic festival at our place where we made several garlic food items including garlic soup, chicken picatta, shrimp with a garlic white wine sauce, garlic cheese fondue, etc. We also had snacks like garlic cheese bread, garlic pistachio, garlic stuffed olives. It was such a hit that we decided to have it every year :)
We will be having our 2nd annual one this summer and I need bee's ideas! Does anyone have a favorite garlic dish that they'd care to share so we can make some new items?
