They should give you one. The shop where I got mine gave me a white plastic one, and my seamstress switched it out for a white cloth one.
Good, you are all making me feel much better! I really didn't want to have to think about taking it home without a bag, and it literally never occured to me to think of this question before today!
My dress came with a garmet bag, but it was clear. So I had to cover it with a black trash bag (the bottom could still be seen but it just looked like random "white dress"). So while it's been in my house or car I've had to keep it covered so my FI can't see it.

I'm going in for my 3rd fitting tonight, and I am fairly hopeful that my dress will be done, and that I will get to take her home with me!! I just kind of realized, though - I have no idea if my dress shop gives you a garmet bag for the dress. I was emailing about it with my Mom, and her comment was: "For the money we paid for that dress, they BETTER give us a garmet bag!" - but really, I have no idea. So, brides who've already taken their dresses home - did your shop provide you with a bag? Did you bring one yourself? Did the shop try and sell it to you? Just curious (and super-excited to be possibly bringing my dress home!).
