    Hey Hive,

This is kind of embarrassing to post, but my garter just came, and I think it's too tight... maybe I'm being hyper-conscious b/c I'm a little overweight, but in any location except directly above my knee cap, it kind of pinches my thigh in, and does not look sexy IMHO. Has this happened to anyone? What did you do? Is there a quick fix to alter it? Should I just start over?

i didn't wear the garter my bridesmaid gave me for that same reason!  we weren't doing a garter toss anyway so I guess it didn't matter.

Can you try stretching it out on something until the wedding?

Dude, I totally believe your garter could be too tight! It should be snug enough not to fall down but not pinch. If it's looking too tight for you, it sounds like you need a bigger size. You could try to alter your garter by stretching out the elastic, or try to find a bigger one. It's not something to be ashamed of at all though. I am a totally normal size and I have "average" size products not fit me all the time. One-size-fits all usually mean one-size fits practically no one. Bummer that this happened though :(

You could open it up, sew on a little more elastic and then sew it back together.  A friend of mine bought me mine, it's a plus size one, fits good.  I didn't even know they MADE "plus size" garters. LOL.

I would try putting it around something to stretch it out...it's elastic, it has to give a little!

Thanks everyone! It is currently stretched around my margarita pitcher. (Both the problem and the solution?) I'll check how it's going in a few days... hopefully this will work!

if this doesnt work, see if maybe your seamstress could add a little elastic to it. and when you place on your leg, place the elastic part on the inside of your leg... i am sure since you order it, you want to wear it, and also wear it comfortably. hope this helps.

Yeah... I'm a "normal" size (6) and mine looks too tight IMO as well....I don't know who these are made for!

Oh goodness, I haven't bought one yet, but now I'm thinking I'd better buy it soon so I have time to stretch it out! Or maybe I can just Etsy it..

Seems like a good enough excuse to find something cute on Etsy, No?
