Hi i have a question about the garter. I plan on getting 2 one to keep one to toss but i saw in pictures of someone i knew in highschool that got married she wore both. Is that a correct thing to do?? My other question is do my bridesmaids have to wear garters 2?? I have 2 bridesmaids and a junior ( i dnot think the junior should wear one she is 13) Anyways i am having trouble finding garters that i like. What are you ladies doing your something blue for?? and what garter do you plan on wearing?? thanks

I don’t think there’s any etiquette on who should wear garters. If your bridesmaids were to wear them no one would ever know, since presumably there will be no garter toss for the bridesmaids. That said, I’ve never heard of bridesmaids specifically wearing garters just because the bride asked them to. So you’re on your own there. Definitely a 13-year-old should not be wearing any.
As to how many, historically you wore a garter to keep up your stockings, so unless you planned to wear only one stocking, you would wear a garter on each leg. However, with the advent of pantyhose, garters were no longer a necessity and seemed to have morphed into a novelty item or a piece of extraneous lingerie. Wear as many as you want in as many places as you want. When brides wear two (one to toss, one to keep), you could wear them on different legs or on the same leg, it’s really up to you.
As for where to find them, there is always etsy.com. Blue garters are a great choice for the "something blue." They were my something blue! I bought my blue and white lace garter at JoAnn’s craft store two days before the wedding for like $3. (I did not do a garter toss, however). Worked for me 🙂

My fiance and I are both Gators fans, so I’ve found a Gators themed set of garters on Ebay. Since the team colors are orange and blue, that will take care of the blue. I’ve never heard of bridesmaids wearing garters.

I’m wearing the 2 garters, my bridesmaids are not wearing any. I didn’t even think of that. I hunted high and low for a garter I liked, finally found one on http://www.gartersbykristi.com… they are a little pricey, but so pretty. Mine is black and red, she even sewed a tiny blue bow on the inside so I could have my something blue! I am so happy I spent the extra money on this set instead of the standard blue and white ones you see all the time, I just wanted something different, it also matches our color scheme for the wedding.
Also I might get a blue anklet for an additional something blue, I love that idea.
