I just had the WORST thought imaginable!! What if I am "on" on my day? How are you supposed to feel about that and what do you do if you are? Has this happened to anyone you know or to you?

I'm not worrying about it because if it does fall on our wedding or honeymoon I'll just start my next pack of bc pills and skip my "friend" all together for that month...that way no problems to worry about!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen!  My period doesn't really come at the exact time every month so it's kind of a crap shoot!  Are you on the pill?  If so, you should be able to skip your period that month by not taking the placebo pills and just continuing with a new pack.

@Min- I know it rocks. I hate to skip mine because I feel like we obviously have it for a reason but it's my wedding day and honeymoon, it would but SUCH a damper on EVERYTHING IMO and I don't want to have to carry a purse when I'm out on our honeymoon rock climbing or anything because I need a tampon lol.

I am on the pill, but I honestly didn't want to mess with moving my period.  It was my "week" but it was the very end, and it was pretty much gone the night before (my cycle is sunday start) and my wedding was saturday.  We went on our honeymoon three weeks later, so it came again at the end but it was just fine. =)

So, is there anyway that I can tell my GYNO my plans about not wanting to have it during my wedding and they tell me when to start taking them or what?

yup, basically you'd look at a calendar, and your cycle is set to come every 28 days..so backtrack to find out when you should start =)

Mine is irregular sometimes. It usually is late and mine is every 32 days give or take.

I mean, I don't want to be "on" on my day for the OBVIOUS reasons..but I also have extreme dysmenorrhea! That just means that my cramps are killer! I get light-headed, have hot flashes, throw up, etc.

Prncssdiva - do you happen to be on birth control pills? I am, and when I realized I was going to be on my period during my honeymoon, I was able to use the pill to change my period schedule. It is NOT a good idea to do this frequently (not good to mess with mother nature and hormones TOO much) but I consulted my OBGYN and she explained that if I just do it once to postpone my period by a week, it won't be harmful.

@Soon2bMrsM - Ill try not to be too graphic but you also don't want to have on a big ol dress where you need your MOH to hold it up while you go to the bathroom and then have to deal with changing your tampon, that sounds horrible.

@PrncssDva - even if your irregular now, if you get on the pill it will make you regular, and birth control usually helps with lighter and shorter periods, less cramps and less everything else, it helps me feel practicly nomal when that week comes around. I don't get moddy anymore either.

It wont hurt if you skid it just one time but if you are almost off of it anyway when the weeding rolls around then there is no point to skip it.

You can generally skip 1-2 cycles in a row, no problem, on most birth control - I move a lot and have had several different gynocologists tell me this.  I tend skip regularly, so I'm just going to make sure I don't skip the cycle one before because sometimes my body says "nope, this month I'm not listening" after a couple of skips in a row.  I'm already careful about that for vacations, other people's weddings, etc.

Between that and having a regular, preditcable cycle, once you go on BC, you shouldn't have any worries about this.  Just definitely start a few months ahead of time, so you can get used to it.  Sometimes the first month on is a tough one.

I was just thinking of this! I'm going to be on mine the weekend of my wedding, my wedding is on Sunday so I'm hoping that it will be towards the end of it. Mine runs like clock work so I know exactly when it will come and about when it will end- so that's nice... I guess?!  I'm a little bummed about it, bc I just don't want to have to be thinking about that! I know it won't be a huge deal, it will just be an inconvience!!

Per the bathroom embarrassments---I had a big ol' dress and I was able to manage on my own. I did not need someone to hold my dress for me, although I totally thought I was going to.

Really, it will be an inconvenience if you have your period on your wedding day but if it happens you will survive! If you take an NSAID (a painkiller like Aleve or Ibuprofen, which are anti-inflammatory) during the week leading up to your period, it can decrease the cramps and overall flow of your period to make it less gruesome when it comes.

This online calculator by My Monthly Cycles figures out what day of your cycle you will be on at any time in the future. You put in your last day your period started, how long your period lasts, how long your cycle is, and your wedding day (or any day in the future) and it will tell you whether you are going to have your period that day (and how many days away you are from getting it). It's here: http://www.mymonthlycycles.com/whencalcct.jsp?calctype=mp It's so useful for planning trips!

@chelseamorning: That calculator is AWESOME!  Thanks!

It also informed me that I need to bump my period up a week ;o)

@PrincessDiva: BC pills could def help you.  I rarely have cramps and can predict my period pretty much down to the hour.  Just discuss with your gyno and make sure you get on a pill that works for you (there's tons of different types and they work differently for various women)

@PrncssDva -- yeah, the calculator is just doing the math for you. If your cycles are irregular then you aren't going to be able to get the same accuracy.

I plan on timing it with my BC too. The actual wedding day doesn't sound fun at all and I don't want to have to worry about it but I don't think I'd mind if it's on the honeymoon - with the BC it usually only lasts about 3 days anyway.

My Dr. actually told me once that it's healthier to have it every 6 weeks instead of every 4 - I don't like the idea of it but once can't really hurt, so we'll see.
