Gatsby on a budget, eh? Try bootlegging to make some extra cash.
Let’s see…what if you did something like this, with square vases, painted gold with sort of a nod to art deco…and then inside, put DAISIES!!!!!! And then buy some awesome paper and use a typewriter to put some quotes from the book on the paper, and prop them in the center. Though the Great Gatsby is like the saddest book of all time. It’s NOT a love story, like Romeo and Juliet is not a love story. They’re tragedies.

The 1920’s were a decade of jazz music, flapper culture and bootlegging (leaving aside all those ordinary people who lived ordinary lives with ordinary jobs).
If you want to do candelabra, you can rent them. You could also purchase something like this for approximately $25 .
you could do something simple like this, which is a nod to the long strings of pearls worn by flapper girls
ostrich feathers can be expensive, but you might get lucky and find some on AdHuntr secondhand and rent the eiffel tower vases
If you know anyone who owns a bar, you could ask them to save attractive liquor bottles and use them for vases, or rent decanters

So we are having a loosly Art Deco themed wedding… Our colours are gold black and blush… We are using decanters for our centrepieces and glass candle holders. The decanters will have flowers… Here’s some pics of what we are using (I’m diying everything)
Not that coloured candle… These are from ikea.
Our tables are long though. For round tables I would put the bottles on a mirror and use them as vases and instead of the candle holders I would have tea lights around the outside! Hope this helps!!

mirandaflaig: hey I see you are from Montreal as well! Yay. Check out my thread for ideas :
As for candelabras I got a few of them here and there at thrift shops and garage sales but if you order them online they’re expensive. What’s your budget?

mirandaflaig: also depending on when and where your wedding is I may be able to rent you my centrepieces. 24″ eiffel towers with white ostrich feathers.
