Quantity-wise, just get the measurements for the gazebo height and add about 10% for each “opening” to allow for drape.  It looks like the burgundy drape is sort of like curtains for each side, and then a valance around the perimeter (again, add about 10% for drape).

If you want really floaty, I’d use chiffon or tulle.  Taffeta would be REALLY expensive and show all the creases.  Do they have anything that you could use?  Maybe white and then add the lavender valance?

@cande2014:  You could simply buy sheer drapery panels. They come with finished edges so no sewing required. You can likely staple them in place with a staple gun- not a stapler. If they won’t let you use staples you can use self adhesive velcro.

These ones are $4.99 per panel

Use two panels per post and gather the fabric with a tie of your choice. Purchase extra panels to drape across the top between the posts.

@cande2014:  Are you wearing a white dress? What color are your BM’s wearing, if you are having any?  If lavender is one of your colors, I would choose it rather than generic white. It will personalize the pics to your wedding.

What about something like this, but with just drapes and flowers on the entrance?  That way you don’t obstruct the view of the ocean.

We too got married in a gazebo overlooking the Carribean in Jamaica.  This was the look that I had wanted (sorry about the photo being so huge) – til they told me the price.  I couldnt justfiy spending $1000 for the sheer drapping – plus after our ceremony they would were take it all down anyway.

I then decided that we could attempt to decorate it ourselves – they said we could and we could do it two hours ahead of time.  I went to all of the trouble of buying (and traveling with) yards of white tulle and an ombre effect of fuschia and pink and white paper poms. I had no idea how long it would take to open the paper poms – OMG – FOREVER. On top of that I didnt plan my day accordingly and we landed up just using the basic decor.  Its was also 85 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and it felt like 100% humidity and I wasnt about to ruin my hair and make-up either – so at the time we made the right choice! If we would have been give more time, say four hours in advance, then maybe we would have done something….

If you are going to go the tulle route – you can purchase rolls of tulle is a variety of sizes and lengths.  Definitely plan on having more – you can always trim away the extra.  In the picture below they used flower bouquets as the column tie backs.

I dont think you only deorating the first 4 columns would be tacky – that was my game plan heading into Jamaica.  I certainly didnt bring enought tulle along with me to do any more than that!  I had then planned use some of the paper poms as the flower bouquet tie-backs.

In the end for us everything worked out – in the pictures you didnt notice that there wasnt much deocration – everything was perfect.  But I will say for $250 it is well worth the money on having someone else decorate!!  Good luck to you!

@cande2014:  I think draping the 4 columns and adding the white plants will look lovely. Personally, I would use matching tiebacks, not white.

@candle2014 – no worries.  We got married at 2pm.  We had also wanted the sunset wedding time slot but someone beat us to it.  There was a great breeze on our day so that helped a great deal with the heat.  I was so worried that I was going to melt away in my dress – but with the breeze I was fine – warm but not uncomfortable.

We never could have deocrated the gazebo and got ready for the ceremony with only two hours to spare.  I wished I would have looked into having them decorate but with all of the paper poms that I brought – I didnt want to sit our in suite for a few hours and open them all (nor did I think that they were going to do that for me)…I was more interested in laying in the sun and everything else than to sit there and do that.

This was the look that we fell in love with and what made us chose to get married in Jamaica in the gazebo ovelooking the water – the water is amazing and honestly our pictures look just as good as the one I shared above.  (BTW this is Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay)

My advice to you is pay someone else to decorate (if its reasonable) and bring lots of pictures and examples for them to see your vision!
