I am thinking about making candles in these glass bottle FI has to use on the tables at the reception, but since the only candle making I have ever done is melting crayons when i was little, I am at a loss. I would like to put cranberries and possibly like holly leaves or something inside as well. So would you think gel or regular wax would be better? And what kind of wax? I don’t want them scented, just colored maybe. TIA

I did wax candle making when I was little and it wasn’t difficult at all. However if you are going to put things like holly leaves/berries you best use the gel and clear containers. That way people can see the decorations you put inside the candle. I think you can buy gel candle making kits that are already colored.

I made some decorated gel candles in glass jars last year to give my FMIL as part of her christmas gift, and let me tell you- they were a pain in the a*s! The gel was messy & full of bubbles. They came out pretty, but I was wishing I’d done wax by the time they were done (& I only made 4). Wax candles by comparison are much easier from my experience, but I’m no expert.
