I am getting a Gemesis ring for my next purchase.  I have a small everyday ring which I love, but want something nice and blingy for special occasions.  I’ve heard good things.

I mainly wanted to butt in and say I think it’s quite rude of you to consider your FI “cheap”  Why do you say that?  Is the budget he gave you something he can reasonably afford?  Does he make huge money but has only given you a tiny budget?

It sounds like you are still getting a ring that you love, and hey your boyfriend wants to get engaged!!  Focus on that and not the price tag please.  There will always be someone with a bigger, more expensive ring than you.

My ring came from genesis, and I love it! I just got engaged less than two weeks ago, so I’m still very excited about it!! I’m sure you’ll love your ring!

FutureMrsPannell:  You don’t sound snobby to me.  And frankly, what you’re describing (at least to me) is not cheap, it’s a bit selfish.  Traditionally, the bride and groom are responsible for different expenses  (you can find them here: http://www.emilypost.com/weddings/planning-your-wedding/414-traditionally-who-pays-for-what), but what is tradition and what works for you as a couple are separate matters.

Anyway, I’m glad you’re happy with the ring you chose.  It sounds beautiful!  I hope you post pictures when it’s on your finger!

I did not buy one but a common friend bought one from them and has been telling everyone how great it is.  This is a picture he posted on fb a while ago. I think he mentioned H color

FutureMrsPannell:  Oh, well in that case, that’s a bit rough.

Are you personally paying for the wedding, or are your parents?  Either way I would refuse to do that unless he gave you the “traditional” budget for a ring haha.

My FI and I only had a tiny budget (less than $1000!) but I was fine with that as we are paying lots of other things off and had just gone to Europe and couldn’t afford anything more.   I am also not a jewelry person really so wanted something small for everyday wear.  If I had been in your situation I would have been peeved.
