Post a photo! I love gemstone rings and originally showed FH a bunch that I liked but he liked the symbolism behind a diamond ring so I'm so very happy with what I've got :)
I don't have a gemstone engagement ring but I'll be getting a ruby and diamond eternity band for my wedding ring! Ruby is my birthstone and diamond is FI's :)
I have a 1.32 Orange Sapphire with 42 round diamonds at .36CT. My wedding band is 10 round diamonds at .33CT.

@ja7975:I LOVE rubies and they are the epitomy color of love! I don't know if you've found a jeweler yet but my friend got something similar from caratsandcolors.com. They have very nice pieces...Check them out!
I love Aquamarine, its my birthstone! Honestly I love the idea of gemstone engagement rings! My friend has a beautiful sapphire ring for hers and we all remember Princess Di's ring that I have always adored since a little girl! I am hoping for some aqua earrings or even ruby earrings since its the gemstone for July (our wedding month) but I don't think the hubby picked up on my hint. :(
Thanks Aqua Girl! We actually had the e-ring custom made so we will be going back to that jeweller for teh wedding ring - otherwise I'd totally look into carats and colors. I LOVE aquamarine rings and big rings too so I am drooling over yours!
@MissGreen:Ha ha! Leave a magazine open to the earings you want next to the toilet or leave a window up on the computer. Sometimes men need a kick start!
@Aqua Girl: Actually he totally suprised me today! He wrote in my anniversary card that my other gift was to splurge on something like this bc he couldn't pick it out bc he wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and he gets upset bc I never splurge on myself. He totally made me smile and made my year!
This isn't my engagement ring, its one of my right hand rings. My dad bought it for my 21st. Its a 1.7ct cushion cut aquamarine with diamond halo set in yellow gold. I have been in love with this ring for ages, as its my birthstone and its hard to find aquamarine set in yellow gold. I only wear yellow gold, so it is perfect. I tried to convince FI to buy it as my Ering, but he wanted something more traditional. So luckily my dad bought it for me! Its my 'something blue' and it will be a family heirloom I hope. I'll probably give it to a daughter or granddaughter on their 21st.
Oooo pretty. I also have a gemstone ring. Mine is a 2.01ct Morganite with a tiny diamond on either side. Gemstone rings were always the contenders for me. All the pics I have of it make it look an orangey/peachy colour, but in real life it is a really pale pink- no orange at all and it really sparkles. This pic is with my wedding band too- can't wait to wear them together!!
Let's not forget, diamonds are gemstones too. They're just a really common, popular gemstone. ;)
I have an emerald ring. It's the birthstone of May and one of two gems that are in every ancient and modern birthstone chart. According to legend, the emerald was Cleopatra's favorite gem.
Emeralds supposedly improve eyesight and healing and promote faithfulness, wisdom, and patience.
My favorite color is green and I've always loved spring as the season of new life and growth. Lucky for me, I was born in May!
My emerald is a 1.4 carat square emerald cut with diamond asscher side stones (not sure of the weight of those).

@Minutiae, lol yes true diamond is definitely a gemstone. I guess I do have a gemstone engagement ring too! haha
I have an aquamarine e-ring, too! Mine is a 2.85 oval in a Verragio setting. I LOVE it so much! Yay for being a little different -- diamonds are beautiful but I think there's something really special about a little color :)

@knikolle- thanks!! i love my ring! it was made by a designer so it's not a ring that you will see on someone else which is what i wanted! and no, the sapphire doesn't turn the diamond blue or anything..they both have and keep their own unique sparkle, which i love! the diamond is flawless, and the sapphire is...well..just gorgeous, no imperfections (specks) or anything!

Hello Ladies,
I am so excited to have the most gorgeous aquamarine and diamond engagement ring in the world and am just burting at the seems :-) I love the romance and individuality assosiated with gemstones. How they can be personalized to mean a birthdate, anniversary, wedding month, etc. not to mention their holistic and forklore values.
