Has anyone purchased anything from Gemvara? I *love* the customizability options they have, the wide array of diamond alternatives, and have fallen in love with some of their rings. I haven’t been able to dig up many reviews, though, so I’m waffling a bit on whether or not to buy from them.

@Sevyn: I bought a ring from Gemvara about a year or so ago, and it was a great experience. They basically sent me emails about the whole process (your stone has been picked out, your setting is now in the wax mold, etc.). The ring was even more beautiful when it arrived. I highly recommend them.

My husband got me a necklace (from my wishlist) on Gemvara. He said it was an easy purchase process, and the box and stuff it comes in is quite nice. It was an easy design process for me, too.
I recommend them!

I just returned my only Gemvara purchase. The ring’s details were “fuzzy” compared to the crisp online pictures. I chose it for the fine details, so it didn’t work out. One odd thing is I had to call the night before estimated delivery to check the status, since I never got the tracking email (but had received the other emails). Got the tracking email the day after it arrived for some reason. I would’ve loved the ring, but maybe not for the price…just my expectations! I probably wouldn’t hesitate to try again with a simpler design. Any contact with customer service seemed very friendly.

My fiancee purchased my E-ring from Gemvara.
The ring was absolutely beautiful and I feel in love with it right away. I didn’t want the traditional diamond and my FI was able to customize a gorgeous ring using black diamonds and white saphires. I’ve had a little trouble with Gemvara but I would still recommend them. My ring initially had a tiny chip on the black diamond centre stone. A few weeks after sending the ring back so the stone could be replaced we found out that they wouldn’t be able to find a proper replacement. After a lot of back a forth we setlled on a different ring design which I hope to receive next week.
The ordeal has been disappointing and stressful, but I would still recommend them for these reasons:
– customer service is great – they respond quickly, are friendly, and genuinly seem to want to make your experience the best it can be, our issues were with the buyers, not the customer service
– the customization means you get a truly unique ring – especially great if you don’t wan’t just the traditional diamonds
– they work with palladium (a truly underrated and beautiful metal)

How did I miss this thread haha… FH got my engagement ring from gemvara, customer service was apparently great, he felt like he good a good deal, and I *love* it love it love it love it. It’s amazing knowing that we had the ability to customize everything. I showed him some things I liked but he made all the final decisions… I love telling people he had a unique ring made just for me. Here’s a picture of my black diamond, aquamarine, and iolite beauty:

I have been looking for a ring for my 20th anniversary and I found Gemvara interesting. I started looking for reviews and compliants ouside the site. I found a compliant that spoke to the quality of stones and metals that Gemvara uses. I have decided to have my ring made by a jeweler. The prices were not that much different than what I could get online. I live in Los Angeles and I have the jewelry district in my backyard. I understand that some do not have that convenience. Here is the report. I will let you decide. http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/GEMVARA/internet/GEMVARA-jewelry-is-a-ripoff-New-York-Internet-1152264#comment_1
