My cousin and SIL tried one and they were both wrong. Not sure which ones they used though
@KatyElle: I am soooo tempted to try this!!!!!!! But I'd also be afraid that I'd find out it was a particular sex, and then start dreaming of all boy things or all girl things... only to find out at my gender ultrasound that it was wrong!! So I don't know!!!!
My sister purchased one and it came out accurate (test predicted boy, she had a boy). She went into it knowing that it was 50/50 anyways but it was still fun to wait and find out the "real" gender!
Only the old wives tale types. None of those were ever accurate.
How long do you have to wait before your ultrasound appt?
Save your money. You can wait, we believe in you! ;)
Oh, and when my mom was pregnant with me, the doctor was telling a med student in the room that since the baby's heart beat was fast, it was a girl, and slower meant boy. My mom had wanted it to be a surprise so she was pissed, but they were right.
If it's this one http://www.amazon.com/Gender-Prediction-Test-Pregnancy-Predictor/dp/B003YT6KEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321034914&sr=8-1, I just got it in the mail today.
I am going to take it in the morning, though I just bought it because I thought it would be fun. It has really great reviews, too, and it was correct for Mrs. Bee, so I was impulsive and bought it. Oh well.
My anatomy scan is the 22nd, though we're doing a gender reveal, so we won't actually know until the 3rd of Dec. I'll let everyone know if it was correct. I guess it does have a 50/50 chance.
I ask myself which would be worse:
1. Not knowing for 11 weeks (I still have 8 to go).
2. Buying a test, being excited about the results and finding out it was wrong and kicking yourself for wasting the money.
And then I'd put that $25 toward something that I could actually use, like lotion that won't keep the stretch marks away, but at least makes me feel like I'm doing something productive
I went ahead and ordered it. 25 bucks so I can shut up about it is worth it to me haha!
I took all those fun little prediction tests including the Chinese chart and every. single. one. said BOY. I really want another girl!
@KatyElle: My test said girl. I'll let you know how it goes on the 3rd. Pretty much everyone thinks it's a girl (including me and my DH), so I would have been surprised if it said boy. I will really be shocked if it actually is a boy.
I did this test with my third. The first one said girl...we were super excited! I wanted to get another one to see what is said, but my dh said "no way!" Well, a couple nights later he came home with another one! It said girl too! We now have an 18 month old daughter! FINALLY!!! One tip though...follow the directions EXACTLY! The results can differ if you don't do it just right. Have fun!
I also did the chinese birth chart and that said girl too, and with my boys, it said boys.
Ahhhh fun! I'm more encouraged now. DH is still Team Green, but I know he will give in like he did last time. The test gets here Friday yay :-)
Gosh all this gender prediction talk makes me wanna know what we're having!!!!! UGH team green is a hard team to be on! grrrrrr. lol
Can't wait to hear if it's right for you though!
Nah, but the day we hit 15 weeks we were at Stork Vision getting the 3D/4D ultrasound (that is the earliest our local one will book an appt). Best $125 I ever spent, not only did we get the gender sneak peek, but we got a DVD of him swimming around (could not stop watching this!) and a whole bunch of printed pics and a CD of even more pics.
The only down side was that for our 2D anatomy scan I felt so spoiled by the better pics we got a few weeks earlier.
@amnystik: It's funny you say that, because we are team green too, and all the gender prediction talk makes me want to stick with team green even more!
If anyone wants mine - that I never used.. im willing to mail it via usps. for free.
I bought it and have been waking up straight to puke every morning so i never felt good enough to use/try it and I just had my gender screen yesterday so there is no need for it.
1 thing though, when it arrived I did open the package to see what it looked like but i placed it back in the wrapper and taped it up! UNUSED.. I promise. lol.
@KatyElle:Don't do it. I only know one person who tried it. Test said boy. At 20 weeks, ultrasound showed girl. Sure enough, she delivered a girl.
@PasteMoo: Too late, already ordered! I'm honestly just trying it out to see if it might work, but we're not going to get used to any particular gender based on a home test.
I took the test... and it instantly turned...
PINK! Hahahaha! DH is trying to mask how annoyed he is lol
I assured him there was a good possibility it could be wrong but for now he is sulking.
I saw one of these type of kits last week in CVS and was tempted to ask the hive how accurate they are. I'm not pregnant, but when I am I'm going to want to know the gender the earlier possible second that I can, lol.
@KatyElle: Hahahaha! Too funny he is annoyed. Look at it this way, if it is right, at least he has some time to get used the idea before your gender ultrasound. And if it is wrong, then he'll be extra happy!!!!
@KatyElle:Aww. That is exatly why I want to be team green. My hubby will be so disappointed with a "girl" gender scan result, but not with a live baby girl. I want to wait until it's born because how can anyone be disappointed with his baby in his arms?
I am not entirely sure what I want. I know, eventually, I would really like to have a girl (just one), but I don't know if it matters to me now. I know how much it matters to him, so I'm scared to find out when he still has a chance to be disappointed.
We wanted a girl and got a boy. Our kit turned orange or green, it immediately turned green for boy. Green is also the color it turns if a mistake is made. That was what i stuck to until I saw boy parts on the monitor...lol.
@PasteMoo: Team Green is great for some, not for me. I want 2 girls, I know my husband would learn to love 2 girls as well. I think he's doing this to bug me, because after DD was born he'd make comments like "I never thought a girl could be so much fun" and "I wonder if she wants a sister?"
He actually told me yesterday that the gender test made the waiting game more suspensful in a fun way, so I know that at 20 weeks boy or girl won't really matter to either of us. We just like to torture ourselves.

Anyone ever had accurate results with a gender prediction test? I'm about to drop $25 I really don't have to spare on one I have in my Amazon shopping cart. I am just about 9 weeks, the test says it predicts accurate results from 6 weeks and up. I am so impatient, I don't even know how you Team Green people do it, that's willpower!
