@MrsRichard:  You could just do the staples that she’ll need… like a diaper cake decorated with teething rings and spoons and such. My sister got two baby robes for my nephew, which she thought were adorable but when do you put a baby in a robe?? She hasn’t used either of them and he’s almost one.

I would do some gender neutral clothes.  Once she announces the gender she will probably have people getting her lots of pink or blue  items.  Having some nice nietral pieces to pair with her colored pieces make a wardrobe go a lot farther.

@MrsRichard:  I am doing a onsie bouquet for a family member, its super cute and fairly easy to make.  Just Google onsie bouquet and there are some great you tube tutorials.

@MrsRichard:  The last shower I attended, I did a big bag of goodies, but in gender neutral colors (my choice).

Boppy covers, onesies, bibs&towels, booties/gloves, etc.

Maybe if you did that, you’d cover for other family members if they don’t bring gifts.

The shower I’m attending tomorrow: I’m just gonna get a few big boxes of diapers. Most useful gift ever, lol.
