I have been taking generic Alesse for at least the past 5 years...no real side effects that I have experienced. I have been on BC for at least the last 10 years consistently. Before Alesse I went on Orthotricyclen and that one made me gain weight. The Alesse is a low dose of estrogen (synthetic i think) so its not supposed to have the side effects. I am fairly certain that most (or all) BC pills will cause you to gain some weight.
I was on the generic of Alesse for a few months, but stopped just because I didn't want to take a hormonal birth control anymore. Immediately before that, I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen, which caused me to gain weight, but when I switched to Alesse, I didn't notice anymore weight gain (didn't lose any either though).

Sorry, there are no users yet.
My Dr just prescribed me the generic form of alesse BC. I haven't been taking anything for awhile now, and am nervous to start because of possible side affects (weight gain!!!!). Anyone else on this? What are/were your side affects?
