Have you given any consideration to the meaning behind the temple outside of just a pretty building?
@SouthernTulip: yep. Thats actually the reason my fiance wanted to go see it.
oh okay good - coming from a Mason family they would be pretty upset about the appropriate "traditions" not being honored for the Masons.
Outside of the meaning (the whole Washington turning into a god thing is a little weird to me personally 
) it's a really pretty place and that wedding that was posted was super gorgeous!
My high school band and orchestra (I participated in both) performed several concerts at the Alexandria Masonic Temple. It's a very cool building, and those stunning views out over Old Town Alexandria are sure to have your guests talking about what an amazing site it is. We used to drive over there in high school just to enjoy the view. As a bonus, being right next to Old Town will be fun for you and your guests, as they'll have a ton of stuff to do before the wedding. I agree about the interior having a bit of a cold feeling, but you could easily use that to your advantage to go for a simple modern-elegant look. I think it would be a great spot for a wedding.
Heh...this thread makes me think of a Dan Brown book. Or maybe one of the National Treasure movies. How fun, I think your guests would enjoy it!

Hi!
So my fiance and myself have been looking at quite* a few venues. We both agreed we didnt want to do the traditional ballroom and I wanted the possibility of an outdoor ceremony (with a backup plan) and he wanted something "architecturally pleasing".
We saw the GW Masonic Temple and are strongly considering having our ceremony+reception there. I think it has a bit of a cold feeling but I think we can warm that up with lighting/draping/etc...
Anyway- has anyone ever been there for a wedding/event? Any thoughts/advice?
