I am getting married in May and I plan on having a modern wedding. But  I am drawn to pictures of willow branches with lights. Its a very romantic look. Would it look bad to have modern flowers like gerber daisises that are hot pink, orange, and green mixed with things like dead branches (willow branches)? I have always wanted a very dark ceremony with canldes and branchces but I also really want gerber daisises for the bouquets and decor. HELP!!

:D i think it'll look fantastic!!! a client of mine is actually having gerbers in the branches much like other folks use orchids... as soon as i see her centerpiece i'll post a pic for you. i have never seen it used before that we can find.

that would be so great if you could do that. i feel like i am mixing modern with rustic and it will look bad. i dont see how i can have the best of both worlds without it looking strange. i dont neccessarly even want the flowers to be in the dead branches. i want the branches to be in the corners along the wall of the reception giving off light. i want the reception to be very dim with only candle light and christmas lights. but i also want bright colors and fun modern stuff. i am having such a hard time with this. i want flower petals down the aisle and also green spider mum balls hanging from the pews. i have no idea how it will look if i start to mix "rustic" with it.

wow, i would love that! the juxtaposition of the modern bright flowers and the old willow branches would be fantastic.

    do it for sure!

Do it!!  Whatever you like will be perfectly fine.  So what it hasn't been done before. You can be the first!!!  Post pictures for us to see.  My suggestion is to do a trial run of the look before commiting. Just in case you don't like the look.  Very romantic, yet colorful idea.  Likey!

I would add more flowers than what they showed in the photo. Just trying to find something similar! Good Luck, I'm sure it will be beautiful!

oh wow that is beautiful!! yeah that is what i am thinking of. i was never really picturing putting the flowers on the willow though. i just had my entire wedding planned out to be very modern and colorful and fun and then all of the sudden decided i wanted the altar to have drama/romance with branches and also the reception have branches. kind of separate from the flowers though. so it might look bad if they arent tied in together like the picture. it might just be an eye soar in the midst of a very colorful modern wedding

thanks girls! i am just worried b/c i wanted a lime centerpeice with a single gerber daisy coming out of the vase along with random pieces of grass thinggies. i am not sure how i would incorporate my more rustic side into this.
