I found out today that I failed 2 of the 4 blood draws in my 3 hour glucose test. I’m supposed to be meeting with a specialist soon but in the mean time I have no idea what to eat!
everything I read online contradicts itself! One thing says to eat lots of fruits and veggies, then another says no fruit at all because of the sugar. Then they say to eat whole grain sandwiches with turkey or ham lunch meat but were not supposed to eat lunch eat!
I’m scared to eat anything so if anyone’s gone thru this, I’d love to hear what you ate until I have my appt.
im so bummed out right now. I haven’t gained a ton of weight, drink a ton of water, have been eating healthy, walking and this still happened. : (

I’m commenting to follow this thread. I worry about developing gestational diabetes because I already have blood sugar issues and my pregnancy has made it worse. I tried more fruit and that made it worse- which is not surprising.

I don’t know about gestational specifically, but for type 2 diabetics (and I think the diet needs are pretty similar), we suggest limiting fruit, high fat meats, processed meats. Anything with a high sugar or fat content is basically a no-no. The most successful diabetics I’ve seen eat ‘whole food diets’, cutting down on all processed foods. I recommend you see a dietitian, who’ll be able to give you specific info.

Can someone move this to pregnancy? Thanks!
