I have a few questions I am hoping you can help me with. My fiancé and I are planning a destination wedding in Punta Cana next May. Because of the amount of paperwork and wait time after the ceremony (up to 6 months) in Punta Cana we have decided to just do a symbolic ceremony on the beach and get married at the court house before we leave. We live in Philadelphia and I am aware you need a Marriage License and then you have 60 days to get married.
My question is, if we do a self-uniting ceremony can we sign the papers in Punta Cana and come back and hand them into the court house to make it official, two weeks later? I am not sure I understand exactly how the self-uniting ceremony license works.
Or would we need to go to the court house and get married before we leave? I know there is a long wait time to get married by the justice of the peace.
Thanks for your help in advance!
