Perhaps a leave-in conditioner would help, have you tried any of those products?
Wish I had your problem, my hair is very fine and thin and won't grow at all, I don't know what to do with it most of the time, especially for the wedding.
Ion Effective Hair Care Treatment sold at Sally's Beauty Supply got my bird's nest sized knot out. I had to work with it for quite a while, tugging and gently pulling the knot out - but it finally came out! After two big knots I finally went to the salon and got a trim and they had me buy some expensive moisturizing shampoo and hair treatment instead of conditioner. My hair went from feeling like hay to completly soft and normal. Yay!
don't have a solution to suggest, but it sounds like we have similar hair. I usually grow mine out til it starts 'dreading' underneath then I can't stand it, chop it off and donate it.
This happens to me too! So annoying! I think the main reason its happening now is bc its so dry here. Once the spring hits it hopefully wont form anymore dreads!
I get the same thing and my hair is only a few inches longer than shoulder length. No idea, I've tried different shampoos and conditioners but nothing seems to work. It's also been getting really staticky (is that even a word?) lately so i think maybe its the NYC weather?
My hair is like yours, but thin. I don't know what to do about the knotting, but I used to break out on my back and forehead from my conditioner. Since then, as soon as I've put it in my hair, I very quickly wash anywhere my conditioner could have gotten. I use either dove or pantene and they work great for me.
Yeah, the dreads are def. familiar! I get static, too, because of the lack moisture in the winter air. Maybe leave-in conditioner is worth a try. And yes, I've been itching to chop it, but I'm trying to grow it out for the wedding. Blargh! lol

Hi Bees,
So, here's the scoop:
I have fairly long (about 7 inches past the shoulder), thick hair. As it grows longer, I can't really wear it down because the back underside near the nape of the neck gets super tangled up by the end up the day. It's starting to do this when I wear a ponytail, too. Conditioners help, but if they're too oily, my skin breaks out a little, and if they're not oily enough, my hair gets dry and more knotted underneath.
Any advice/product suggestions for things that have worked for you?
