    Hi everyone!

I have always been a silent reader, considering the views and opinions posted here very very educational and helpful! Now the time has come for me to ask a question of my own, and would appreciate everyone's kind input!

We're getting a moissy e-ring (after much reading, i decided i am not that into diamonds anymore, lol, and i think the money saved can be better put towards the wedding!). We have decided to go with MoissaniteCo - despite the few unfavourable reviews I have read here, I still have faith in them!

I just wanted to hear from other Bees here via their personal experiences:

    1) One of the rings we have shortlisted is a six-prong one (eng992). I am just curious, are the workmanship of the prongs good? I am worried about it snagging.

    2) Another one is in a halo setting (eng163a). Would you consider this to be a pave setting? I have read that pave is one of the weakest settings, and the small stones are more prone to fall off. Does anyone here have this ring, or similar? What is your experience?

    3) I am torn between the 8mm and a 6.5mm. I read that in bigger moissies, the color/clarity (sorry, I am not sure which) is less great? I am planning to get it enhanced, will this help?

Thank you so much in advance for your kind input! I apologise too if I am not too clear in my questions or descriprtions, if you could nudge me in the right direction, I would be more than happy to clarify!

    Looking forwad to your replies!

    xx

@MrsBearToBe:  I really love the halo. My SO doesn't though... so I have ring envy :) I think the first one is beautiful and different, but I worry about the prongs swalloing/taking away from the diamond.

I really like the 6 prong, but thats more my style.

If the prongs are set flush - they should never snag.

    @HisAngel:

i never thought about it that way - the prongs swallowing the diamond! but it being 'different' is why i fell in love with it! i love the stones on the prongs! there is a similair one with just four prongs. maybe i should consider that one instead, eh?

i wonder if the size of my fingers make a difference? i am really petite with thin fingers!

    @-crayola-:

yeah...i'm not sure if they are! that's why i am hoping if anyone has a pronged ring from MoissaniteCo, do share your experiences please! =)

@MrsBearToBe:  I just think they cover too much of the stone. I want to see the whole thing!!!! :)

How have I missed that first setting? I am always lurking on MCo's website!

I have had three rings made by MCo (two w/ prongs, one bezel) and I think the prongs are pretty good quality. However, mine don't have stones on the prongs so if you receive the first ring and think otherwise do not take off the tag and you can still return the ring and either get a refund or just have the stone set into another setting that you think will look better! No big deal! :-)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the first setting! The second is also a pretty choice too, but my vote is for the first.

Yes, the bigger the stone the less white it will be, but with the Amora enhancement I doubt you'll be disappointed unless you are REALLY REALLY color sensitive. The 8mm (or 2ct equiv.) is about an H on the diamond color grade scale.

I love love love the halo setting!!! I have read of the odd pave stones falling out but apparently it's not that common and due to the size of the small stones, it's inexpensive to have them replaced.

Eng 992 looks like a beautiful setting especially the detail on the side of the prongs! i love 6 prongs on round stones but my only concern would be the prongs being a bit on the thicker side covering up more of the stone.

    Borh are beautiful rings though!!

@6598731ssfse3:  i am going dizzy with all the beautiful rings on the site! lol! and yes, i am thinking of the enhancement...but Chris said that the amora upgrade for the 2.0ct will only be available mid-Dec...let's hope! =)

it's so hard to decide! ultimately i like halo settings because i think it beautifies the center stone, but my SO thinks its too overwhelming.

there's another reason why i liked this particular one, and it wasn't pictured in the first image i posted. but here it is..there is a "surprise" stone just under the halo!

I have one!!  I have a cathedral setting with double prongs (sol207, 2mm band, double prong upgrade).  The prongs occasionally catch on things, but they are definitely not flush with the stone (not supposed to be).  It's not a big issue though.  The first ring you posted looks like the prongs are totally flush.

I don't have anything with pave stones from them, so can't answer #2.

For your third question-- I don't think it would impact the clarity, just maybe the color.  I have a 7.5mm amora moissy and it's pretty white-- certainly has more color in particular lights, but overall it's pretty impressive.  I don't have experience with smaller stones, but based on their charts, I think it would only be a letter or so whiter.

    This is my ring:

@Almost Mrs.P:  actually you brought my attention to the difference in the prongs between the six and the four! thanks! the prongs on the six-pronged one looks flat, so yeah...maybe it wouldn't pose a snagging issue? the prongs on the four-pronged one looks errr...sharp? pointy? gosh i don't know the rigtht term, lol! but they look like they may potentially snag.

so i guess between them its a: no snagging but covering too much of the stone VS potential snagging but stone is more exposed?

i'm about to pull my hair out here with decisions, lol!

@Almost Mrs.P:  and oh, thank you for posting a pic of your ring! =) it looks super clear and colorless! and if i may ask, what is the advantage/objective of a double prong? sorry if it sounds like a dumb question! lol! i am guessing it is to hold the stone better? or is it more of an aesthetical reason?

@MrsBearToBe:  haha, so many decisions!  Yes, the double prongs are a little sharp, sometimes I poke my FI by accident.... oops!  But I love the more exposed stone.

@MrsBearToBe:  Purely aesthetic.  You can look at the standard prongs on sol207 (either four or six) to see what they look like too.

i looked at the videos of the two (the six-pronged and the four pronged) - the videos took a while to load before and i had thought it didn't work on my laptop, haha, silly me! - and it's clearer now how much the six-prongs truly do swallow up the diamond. what a pity!

on the other hand, the video of the halo one had my jaw dropping to the floor. it is breathtaking!!!! *swoon*

as i read through more of the threads here, another question ran through my mind. i have tiny fingers, and trust me, i really do mean T.I.N.Y. about 3 1/2, maybe 4.

if i am getting the halo setting, a 2ct would be crazy, wouldn't it, on my tiny fingers? but i've always wanted a HUGE rock! :(

    @HisAngel:  hahahahahahaha! TRUE THAT! =)

hey, come to think of it, i tried a 3ct solitaire at Tiffany's many years ago cos a gf was e-ring shopping, and THAT THING was the size of the nail on my pinkie (not to mention with a price tag that i could put as a downpayment for an apartment here in Singapore!)...and i remember thinking it looks amazing on my finger!

    so yeah....maybe a 2ct won't hurt. hmmm.

I might be able to help a little with the 6 vs 4 prong decision. My setting isn't from Moissaniteco but my centre stone is one of their Amora Moissanite. My setting is very similar to the first ring you posted but with 4 prongs and so my vote is obviously for that style, although all of the rings you liked are beautiful! I will post a photo of my ring so you can see that style on a real person.

sorry the pic is so huge. I also can't get it to go beneath what I wrote :p

@MrsBearToBe:  I love the ring you showed me, I really wanted it for myself as an e-ring!! Think the prongs are beautiful but unfortunately my FI didn't like the look (he turned out to be just as fussy as me!!)

we have decided on eng132 and cant wait save up and order :)

good luck with whatever you buy!!

@pinklemonade12:  OH MY GOODNESS! i love your set! the wedding band is such a perfect match to the e-ring, they look so beautiful together!

thank you for posting your pic...i am thinking now that the four-prong would definitely be a better pick, especially after i have seen the video of the six-pronged one. thanks again!

@RainbowPetal:  i agree with @almost-mrsp, your ring is a beautiful choice!

i am having a tough time with my SO actually, haha. we browsed through the rings together and some of the ones he picked out are not what i fancy...but at the same time i do not want to hurt his feelings by ignoring or refusing his choices...so i compromised on a few choices and added them to my wishlist. i'm not totally crazy over them...but still i won't mind them on my finger, you know what i mean?

we have selected a few to the wishlist, his and my choices...and it will ultimately be up to him to get the ring of his choice out of the few we have narrowed down...and i TRULY HOPE it would be a pleasant surprise soon. i am half excited and half nervous! lol!

ok so you guys may already have an idea how intensely i am trolling MosCo's website, lol. i've just made a happy discovery! i realised that i could upgrade the prongs to a heart-shaped prong, and I am so excited and thriled about this, because i think it will eliminate my prongs-may-snag concerns! and i think it adds such a romantic touch to whichever ring i (or rather SO) choose!

check it out, Bees, if you are getting your moissies from MosCo (in case you haven't already known!):

    http://www.moissaniteco.com/4prong-heart-prong-head-upgrade-combine-with-ring-purchase-p-11399.html

    only $65!

you can also enter "prong upgrade" in their search field and look at the prong styles available! =)

this is the real pic of the halo setting one that i had liked:

now i'm not sure if i'm crazy about it as much anymore! the side stones in the real pics are not as sparkly and as distinguished in the website pic! personally, they look quite dull and almost like just bumps of metal. or am i just crazy and thinking too much? could it just be bad lighting or poor photography in the real pic?

okay okay! i realised i'm happier with a more defined outline around the center stones and the side stones like the Legacy ones:

the ring (altho in oval) looks good in the real pic, so yeah! i'm sold!

the milgrain one looks good, too...so i may consider that one as well:

whatever it is, they all have the "surprise" stone, so i'm happy! :)

thank you so much, my dear, for helping me realise this. i have never fancied anything but white gold or platinum, but this ring if beautiful beyond words with the rose gold! something i am so willing to consider now!

I have a halo ring from AD.com (same folks that own Mco.com) and my ring has side stones too.  I'm not sure if they are considered pave or not (not an expert) but they do have shared prongs that you are not able to spot in pictures.  I've had my ring for three months now and have not had a problem.  They seem very secure in their setting.  The shared prongs are so tiny that I do not have a chance of catching them on anything.
