don’t do your morning cardio unless you want to risk sweating off color. you should wait at least overnight before showering, as the spray doesn’t set in until a few hours, and you’ll gradually get darker afterwards. i didn’t have much streaking when mine wore off, but i did notice that a few hours after i got it done, my legs sweated and it wore off a little in sections rather than streaks (inner thighs, ugh.) it’s a great idea to try it out before the big day, good luck!

Always ‘pat’ dry from showers, never wipe dry. That always helped me prevent streaking.

CanadianBride456:  Be prepared to feel sticky and gross!! They aren’t lying to you when they say to wear loose dark clothing!! and don’t be bummed if the color doesn’t show right away! I got it done for my e-pics and couldn’t see a difference until the next day!! Good Luck 🙂

baby powder is your friend lol after the tan, you’ll feel disgusting & stinky when going to bed. cover yourself with baby powder where you feel sticky/get sweaty. itll keep it from running while it develops. take a shower first thing in the morning (at least 8 hours after getting the tan) trust me, you’ll be dying to shower! def shower before your cardio. you should be fine. just make sure you put on lotion after every shower. No baths. no scrubbing in the shower. it’ll look incredible come saturday 🙂

Make sure the formula doesn’t have an instant bronzer in it. Mine did (which I didn’t know before paying) and it made me look like I was covered in freckles. Haha. Definitely wear loose fitting clothing. They say to be very generous with the barrier cream but I guess I went to high on my ankles and I looked like I was wearing socks or something lol. I would have rather had my ankles and feet get too tanned and scrub it off later. Be prepared to stink like hell. It smells so bad and will make your sheets stink so be prepared to wash those the next day. Mine faded really well.

Make sure that you shower & shave prior to your appointment.  Do not apply any lotions,  creams, skin medications, or even even deodorant after your shower, before your spray tan.

A few of my friends work at tanning salons and always recommend to get into a bed for 10 mins (if you can for that long) after you get the spray tan and to go into a bed the next day too. I wouldn’t do the cardio!

As the other girls mentioned, you will be very sticky. I couldn’t stand it! I scheduled my appt in the morning so I could shower before bed. I have no clue how some of you ladies went to bed with that stuff on 🙂

CanadianBride456:  Bronzer is the part that you end up… leaving behind. To help keep up with the tan, try and use lotion. I use jergens natural glow.

I wouldn’t do it again. I went to a salon with great reviews and a hefty price tag. It was NOT what I expected. I turned oompa-loompa orange and had spots all over my chest. It was also extremely uneven. I was still pretty white on some body parts. You should definitely speak to any friends who might have been to the same salon so you can get an honest opinion on the place. Other than that:

1. Wear dark, loose clothing like they suggest. I would not put on a bra or underwear. Flip flops are your friend.

2. Do not do any activity thar will cause you to sweat for at least 8 hours. Don’t get wet, wash your hands or face, shower, etc.

3. If you have dark sheets/bedding, I would suggest using them. If you don’t, perhaps you can spare some old towels to lay on? While you sleep, you will definitely lose some of the color onto your bedding.

4. Pat dry from the shower and be generous with the lotions.

5. If you are anything like me, you will start to lose color fastest from the areas where we have “bends” or tight clothing. I lose it from my underams, the inner part of my upper arms, the fold in my arms between upper and forearm, the entire area of where the bra sits, and bikini line. When this happens, there isn’t really anything you can do except exfoliate. Some people swear by exfoliation the entire time to ensure an even fade. But I was always scared of scrubbing away all my color too soon.

I have tried the professional spray tan salon, I have tried a couple of those booth spray tans, and I have tried several different formulas of St. Tropez self tanners. My favorite results came from the St. Tropez Gradual Tan Daily Lotion. It left me very soft and smelling super nice before the tan developed. It is white and doesn’t stain anything. It gives a nice, natural tan straight away. My issue is that it should be offered in a larger size because of the amount used to cover full body each time. And also, I don’t like the way the smell stays IN the skin long after the tan has developed and you’ve showered several times. I finally gave up on it all together. I certainly don’t want to promote skin cancer. I honestly just think it’s an easier bet to a good result to lay in the sun for short periods of time for a few days or so.
