I was already to send in my dress to get it cleaned, but then I realized I probably better make sure the company is reliable. I couldn't find anything on the BBB, so I decided I better not...

Does anyone have any experience with sending their dresses in the mail to be cleaned? Would I have more luck just taking it to a local cleaner? I don't need to preserved since I want to sell it (plus, it's not a white dress so I doubt yellowing would be noticeable lol). I also would like to try reselling it.  Only reason why I haven't gone the local route is because I dont' drive so I'd have to lug my dress around the city via the Subway. I've done it before to get it home so I know it's not impossible, just trying to avoid it heh.

Any tips would be great :)

I used Wedclean to clean my dress. They mail you a box, you pack your dress in and ship it off. They clean it and ship it back to you. It was really cost effective for me and they were able to do an amazing job on my dress. I had a lot of dirt on the train from dragging it all over NYC and they got all of it off with the expection of 1 small mark on the underside of my train. It comes back in a white box, packed with lots of acid-free tissue paper. It was about $180 and I highly recommend them.

I know if you are worried about shipping it off, the NYC girls have used Madame Paulette and J Sheer. They will review your dress to see how much damage and dirt is on it, and give you a quote. Usually it runs in the $500-600.

I took mine to the local cleaners before my wedding, she did a really great job. Of course, I knew her work and totally trusted her. After the wedding, my dress was totally trashed, everyone stepped on it. So I just dropped it off this past week, she will clean it and put it in the box.

Wow, $500-$600 is a bit much! My dress itself cost only a little more than that lol WedClean looks like the way I'll go :) Online it says its $99. Not bad!
