First of all, hello! I’m new here. I guess I’ll introduce myself: I’m a 23 ESL teacher and from Tennessee. I’ve been dating my boyfriend for about 2 1/2 years now and I am ready to get engaged!
So here’s the quick story:
My boyfriend and I were sitting on the couch one day and he opened up his voicemails. He had one from a number he didn’t know so he listened to it. It was on speaker and said, “This is so and so. Your ring setting is available to pick up.” It was a guy we had met with previously when we went engagement ring shopping! My boyfriend immediately fumbled with the phone, trying to hang it up and he looked very nervous.
Ever since then, I’ve noticed that everyone is acting strange! He has been trying to compensate for “why that guy called”. He told me to “not get my hopes up”. His family immediately stops talking when I enter a room, he has told me not to go in his room, my mom is handing me money to buy a dress and get my nails done for this weekend (something she never does), my best friend wants to take me downtown this Saturday to a place that’s only meaningful to me and my boyfriend……Everything is pointing to an engagement this Saturday night! (There are more signs but I don’t want to bore everyone!).
I’m really excited and happy that I may be engaged to the love of my life this weekend! But, I’m also mad at myself for being so observant and paranoid. It’s ruining the fun and surprise of the proposal. Did anyone else have any idea when their proposal came? Did anyone dress accordingly for their own proposal? More importantly, is it okay for me know that I am getting engaged? (I’m saying it’s 90% chance!)

There is no unringing the bell now! I would just be prepared in case this is all a trick to get you off track, sometimes guys like to be sneaky and pretend they are going to do one thing and then do another! Have fun either way!

Ahhh! It’s never a bad idea to be PREPARED!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

I can understand your concern about knowing before it happens, but when the time comes, you’ll be so happy that it won’t matter. About 90% of my friends knew ahead of time. They all said they were very in-tune to strange behaviors or events during the waiting phase. Keep us updated tomorrow!!

Similar thing happened to me. But it didn’t happen the way I thought it was going to!! =(
Long story short, my FH left the blue nile order confirmation up on his computer, I saw it, and from then on every little invitation to go out to dinner got me thinking “this is the night” let’s just say it didn’t happen for EIGHT MONTHS! So I REALLY hope it happens this saturday for you, because those eight months were TORTURE!!!

@yellowshoe: My FI did the same! We have a baby together and have lived together for about 3 years and we always talked about getting married. I picked out a ring I liked and I knew he bought it and had already picked it up. I didn’t have to wait 8 months but I waited about a month and a half and everyday I was thinking, “okay hurry up already! Let me wear that pretty ring!”

That was me a week ago! He told me not to go snooping in our guest bedroom, obviously because he was hiding the ring! So… I had a coupon for a nail salon, so I got my nails done on Friday *just in case* it were to happen soon.
Then this past weekend we got back from visiting family and friends and he mentioned we should go to see the fireworks on the beach (4th of July), and since we had until 9:00, he made a reservation at my favorite restaurant. I knew it was gonna be that night, so I dressed up and made sure I wasn’t wearing any jewelry on my left hand… haha
Have fun this weekend and let us know!
