i was having the same problem. i've been told to send a thank you.
i feel weird using the gift though since we haven't gotten married yet and we are planning on moving to a new place after the wedding.

We are opening the gifts but putting them in a closet and aren't using any of the wedding gifts until after the wedding. Its killing me though because we have gotten tons of great stuff already.

I agree - open it and send a TY card as soon as possible. Gifts will slowly start trickling in - at an increased rate - so better to send TY cards as soon as you receive a gift than wait to send everyone their TY cards after you return from your honeymoon.
It's to your descretion whether or not you use it right away. As a happy median for ur FH, don't use it until after you've tied the knot.

I tried to acknowledge that we received the received the gift, even informally, phone call, quick card etc. But I left people know we'll be sending formal thank you cards after the wedding, because wanted to include a favor and photos.

Hey my Bee gals,
I am hoping you can solve a dilema btwen Mr. Sunflower and me. We have gotten our first gifts and they were sent to us before the wedding. Mr. S is saying to wait to open them after our wedding (which is in 3 mos). I am saying we should open them so we can send a TY card, but wait to use them after our wedding.
What is your ide/thoughts on this? What will you do when you get your first gifts before the wedding??
