I’d say stop thinking about it because your mind will change about everything by the time planning starts. Fantasizing is definitely fun but don’t start making plans yet. I was the same exact way as you and my wedding is exactly the opposite of what I’d planned. I’m having my hair and makeup done at a salon.

I’m having both the hair and makeup artists come to my house – To me, it’s worth the $35 fee, simply because I don’t have to travel anywhere. I live in the country, so it saves time, and also, I feel I’ll be more comfortable if it’s at my house. I can eat, drink, watch tv, whatever I want really.

@sit1010: completely agreed. not worth worrying about until you actually start planning. i switched my salon 3 different times and then finally decided to have the salon come to me – your mind will change A LOT

And for the record – I made a lot of my plans before I was engaged. It made it really easy to get a lot of the planning done fast when it became official 🙂 Just don’t book anything, because some of the vendors I talked to were wierded out haha.

It really just depends.  I’ve been in weddings where we’ve gone to the salon to get our hair done, but for my wedding, FI has a friend who happens to be a stylist and she’s agreed to come to my house.  It really just depends on what stylist you use and whether they’re willing to come to you (some will, some won’t).

Also, if you’re in the pre-stages of planning, so much can change based on where, when, etc.

Yep, this was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. And it was actually the last “big” thing I booked. I did it two days ago actually! Hooray!

I always thought I would go to a salon, but my stylist and another will be coming to us. 🙂

I think it would really depend on convenience, distance, etc. I’ve seen people do either. I’m having my regular hair dresser come to the hotel because even though our wedding isn’t far away, it’s far enough that I’d rather stay down there the night before so I’m not running all over the day of. And she is in the opposite direction, so even farther from the wedding location. If I was using somebody in the same town where I was getting ready, I might go there.

@Anxiouspeanut:I think its pretty standard that you can get people to come to you.  It may work out logistically better to go there but people are always willing to travel (for a price).
