I don’t think that’s unrealistic. I would bring in a picture of what you want and tell them what you like about it versus what you dislike about the other look. Good luck!

Ha, I just looked at the second pic today as inspiration for my next hair change! I think you should definitely show it to explain what you want, and depending on your hairtype they might get it done in one or two sessions. You should also ask them about the brassy tones you don’t want, they can use a toner afterwards to make sure there’s no warm tones left.

Please update after your appointment!

If the stylist pulls big chunks of hair into the foil, you’ll get stripes. If she takes a rat-tail comb and kind of “weaves” pieces of hair out of a section before she applies the foil, you’ll end up with a result more like the 2nd pic that you like. I hope that makes sense. The more scattered the colored pieces, the more blended the result will be. I get highlights all of the time.

Also, for upkeep, Paul Mitchell makes a good shampoo to help remove brassiness (I have alot of iron in my water) and chlorine green from the highlights to help keep them fresh. A good hairdresser will understand what you want and won’t make you look like a brassy skunk.

Here’s a picture of my highlights. My hair is med to light brown but I get so many that I look blonde. Excuse the nose in the upper right corner haahaa!

I recently had a terrible experience with my stylist and came out looking like this! Ack! Obviously, my hair naturally pretty dark brown…

But, luckily, with the help of the bees and a trip to another stylist my hair finally looked like this for my recent pictures

Don’t be scared! Luckily, as I learned this month, hair is easily changable! ๐Ÿ™‚

or you can ask for low lights they are more natural, it would be more of a caramel color ๐Ÿ™‚

Just ask your stylist for subtle or more natural looking highlights, nothing dramatic. Just got the same done myself. It’s enough to look lighter but no stripes. The best thing is to take pictures with you and be specifoc about what you want.
