i recently got engaged while skiing in italy! it was very romantic.my partner skied down towards me wearing a t shirt that said will you marry me. He somehow clicked his skis off and landed on one knee. And said those words. I was gobsmacked. I said yes! of course.
Now the whole thing has settled in we have decided on our location for the big day. We have both travelled wuite a bit, and i am originally from South Africa. So we have decided to get married on a little farm in Botswana.
One big con, is that it is literally in the middle of nowhere! Does anyone have any ideas on where to hire furniture etc for the big day?
I realise i have probably thrown myself in at the deep end. but its all worth it!

Ah, all I know about the contry is that it’s the setting for The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency. I love the series. The book makes the contry sound so beautiful. I’m sure you will have fun.

AWESOME WEDDING LOCATION – I really really wanted to get married in botswana as well but I think Jamaica was a stretch (mentally) for my Fiance’s family. They don’t do a lot of international travel. We also thought it would be to much $$ until we got 70 rsvps for our jamaica wedding – now the family only african destination wedding doesn’t sound so pricey.
In any case I think it depends on where exactly you are in botswana – are you close to victoria falls at all?? There are a good amount of large hotels right there (all beautiful and luxurious and amazing) and you might be able to contact a wedding coordinator/concierge with one of the hotels to help you? I know that is across country borders but they may at least be able to put you in touch with any places that you can rent things from.
If that is doesn’t work out I would contact some wedding coordinators in south africa and see if any can help you out. They may at least know the direction to point you to get started!
I would also look into the safari camps. Maybe you could rent stuff from one of them if there is one close to you? Good luck!!
