WOOT! Another RM bride right here!
Our travel agent is doing all the booking for us so we will see what kind of perks we will get. We are not doing a tasting or anything like that. We know the food is good based on reviews.
Another thing to put in the bags are the metal travel mug things. (I hope you know what I mean.) They are only a couple $$ at walmart and will keep your guests drink cold plus not having to use any of the resorts small cups.
I am too! Getting married in Riviera Maya, at least! :o) Have you all been to bestdestinationwedding.com/forum ? Great destination wedding site!
Also, where in Riviera Maya? I'm getting married just north of Playa del Carmen, and am honestly going to pick up all things for the OOT bags at the Walmart/Costco that they have there!
Is it totally crazy to put a 6-pack of beer for the in-room refrigerator in the bag? (non AI resort!)
@sosayi: We are looking at Xph-ha beach (just south of Playa) for the ceremony and then possibly the blue parrot VIP terrace for the reception. Where are you having your ceremony and reception?
I love the idea of the 6 pack in the bag! Get some of the local favs like XX or Sol.
Getting married at the Fairmont Mayakoba! Ceremony on their beach, and reception at their beach palapa restaurant just steps away! SO excited! Just figured it out this weekend.
I saw reviews of Blue Parrot and it looks great!!! And, when I was in Playa last weekend for a site visit, the downtown beach was HUGE, gorgeous, and not at all crowded! I bet it'll be fabulous in December!
Yes, I love me some Sol! Or Pacifico! :o) Also, debating on maracas for the OOT or as favors? You can get them quite inexpensively on 5th Avenue downtown, a few dollars a pair (or less if you buy bulk, someone I know got 80 for $40)? Any other "Mexico" themed ideas? Of course doing all the "basic" OOT ideas (sun screen, h2o, etc.), but wanted some local flair!
@sosayi: We are doing Mexican candy. I have a friend from Monterey who is helping me pick it out. Other than that we are doing flip-flops in our wedding colors for those who want to match the bride at the reception
, hand sanatizer, stainless steel mugs (since we are in an all inclusive and wanted our guests to have nice drink containers), underwater cameras and a couple other things we are still nailing down.
Who is your photog? We book Sol of Del Sol. <3!
Are you guys having a videographer? We are looking at one company but have not seen a lot of reviews.
Oh, Del Sol! That is my top choice, and I've been talking to them.... BUT. We just found out our resort has an "approved" photog list, and anyone not on that list has an extra fee. Sooooo we are trying to decide on what to do.... I'm not sure I really like any of the approved ones, as I love a more photo-journalist style of shooting, and they're more of the cheesy, staged photo types.... decisions, decisions.
How did you decide on Sol over Matt? I was still wavering on that! :o)
As for a videographer.... would you believe neither of us is interested one?! Scandal, I know! Did you ask Del Sol who they've worked with before? That would be my best suggestion!
The Sol over Matt decision was WAYYYY hard. They both rock but after stalking their blog for about 3 months we decided that we liked some of the angles Sol got in her photos a little bit more than Matt.
At first we were not going to get a videographer but after hearing over and over again from brides that they don't remember 1/2 of the day and they wished they had gotten one we are bitting the bullet and hiring one.
We are getting married at the Barcelo Palace. I like the cup idea because yes, the drinks come in small plastic cups and dont stay very cold. We booked Photo Carribean for our photographers. These are the photographers that are on site at the Barcelo. But our pictures are ready in 24 hours so I like that.
So what about ideas for favors? Ive been going back and forth..I dont want to be cheap, but damn, we are paying for everything!!! Also for the bags I think im going to add cute beachy luggage tags!
:)
I love the luggage tags. We are sending out "get people excited" packages to the guests who are going with us and in there we are going to include flip flop luggage tags. They have some really cute ones at Micheals Craft store. Another bee on there told me about them but i can't remember who now. (Sorry to whoever told me!)
As for favors we are doing Christmas ornaments because our wedding is in December and we thought it would be awesome for out guests to have a ornament to take home and hang on their tree.
We are planning an elopement to RM and staying at Secrets Maroma Beach. I'm looking at Sascha Gluk for photography. His work is amazing and he's very reasonably priced. I think I've found a makeup and hair person as well. Everything else is with the free package you get when you book a week in a preferred level room. We didn't want to bother with all the legalities of the Mexican marriage, so we are doing the legal thing here a day or two before.

Hi all...
Any suggestions or tips on planning a destination wedding? The resort we are getting married at is doing mainly all the work but its hard when they are in a different country and speak spanish!!! It seems even though they are supposed to take care of everything, we r still doing all the footwork. For those who have been married in Mexico...Were u able to get a tasting in before the wedding? Did you bargain for any extras, like a bigger room???
We also have welcome bags to give to all our guests...Its an all inclusive hotel and we have custom koozies, lip balm, sunscreen, personalized M&M's, tylenol...What else can we put in the bags????
Thanks!!!!!
