Our wedding date is 4/12/14 and it’s in DR.
I’m wondering if it being the week before east will be a problem for guests. Isn’t this passover week for those that celebrate that? Isn’t it the week a lot of grade school kids are off ofr Spring Break?
Just trying to think about whether our date will be convenietn or inconvenient for guests.
FYI… Easter is Sunday APril 20, 2014.

I think it is fine, I wouldn’t worry unless you have super religios guests…

We got married the day before Easter this year. My dad’s side of the family is Catholic too. It wasn’t a problem because it was an afternoon wedding so it was over by 5, so the parents with kids were able to go home and still dye easter eggs and get ready for the Easter bunny. TAhe next day my family went to brunch together and hubby and I joined. It worked out nicely for us. Talk to the close family members and see how they feel about it 1st. Our rehearsal dinner was on Good Friday which, for my dad who fasts, would have been an issue if I hadn’t kindly reminded him that he is allowed one meal that day.

We got married the day before easter this year as well and found that it actually made our last minute (two month engagement) plans much easier as everyone already had that weekend off and our out off town friends were already coming in town for Easter Sunday, so our Saturday wedding was perfectly timed.
it also happened to be the ONLY weekend our venue wasn’t booked as our photographer wasn’t booked either. We didnt find this out until after we set the date so as you can imagine, we felt like it was meant to be!

I don’t know much about Easter, but Passover doesn’t start until Monday night, so you’re good there.

@bboot: The Monday after Easter?

@Reign14: Monday the 14th. Before Easter, but since it doesn’t start until that evening, guests should be fine about attending your wedding.

That’s one of the dates we were considering so I have no problem with it. In regards to spring break, that totally varies from school to school. My Fiance and I were recently discussing that; he went to a catholic school so his spring break was always the week of Easter, and he assumed that everyone was that way. I went to public school so our break was anywhere from late March to late April, and almost never lined up with Easter.
It will be during lent, so I guess if you have some super religious guests that could be an issue.

@Reign14: My wedding is the same date as yours and in my part of Australia that date is the first day of the school break. I’m a teacher so it works for me as I’ve got two weeks then to have a honeymoon. I’m not concerned about the closeness to Easter, I’m sure that those close to us will make their best effort to come if they can.

I got married the day before Easter last year and it was not a problem at all.

@Reign14: I don’t think the week before Easter will be a problem…if anything it might work in people’s favor because they may have time off for spring break (teachers). The only thing I would avoid is getting married on Good Friday (my mom would have a heart attack)
Passover is usually only really celebrated on the first night (I think) so I think you are all good there too! People who want to be there will be there. I am getting married 4/5/14 which may not be the best time either….but OH WELL!
