My friend uses the NuvaRing and really likes it. It is easy to use and you just have to remember when you need to put in a new one.
Plus it has less hormone fluctuations than the pill because it is delivered continually into your blood stream.
I love Nuva Ring! I have been on it for almost a year now! I haven't noticed any problems with it. I don't cramp too much and my mood swings aren't horrible. It also helped clear up my face. The only complaints I've heard from others are that some partners can feel it during intercourse and foreplay. I appologize if that was TMI, but those are things I wanted to know personally when I discussed this with my girl friends.
I've been on Alesse for years and it been wonderful in controlling my mood swings and other side effects of PMS... and for its main purpose of course!
I use a generic BC called Kariva. It has low horomones, because the othe other one I was on made me freakin crazy! I've been on this for 2 years now, and have no problems.
Alright, I'm going to have to be the voice of dissent on the Nuvaring. I've known 2 girls that went on it and it made them both absolutely batpoop INSANE. Because it's a constant stream of hormones, it elevated their levels (or something like that. I'm not a scientist) and made them super emotional and crazy all the time. Once they both took it out, they were back to normal. But man alive, they were bonkers.
I'll add to the dissent on the Nuva Ring. I tried it a year ago and just could not stand it, because a) I never really got to a point where I couldn't feel it, and b) I got SUPER sad and tired all the time, really really bad, like crying for absolutely no reason all the time. I popped it right out and went completely back to normal! But everyone's different--I have known a couple of other girls who went on it and loved it. I think it's worth a try just monitor your mood and realize that if you are getting inexplicably sad and tired all the time it might be the nuva ring.
Hm...I know one thing for sure...I know about 4 ladies who have gotten pregnant while being on the "shot" birth control...I can't remember for anything what it's called at the moment, but...FYI! :)
And I'm on YAZ and I love it, so I'm sorry it wasn't any good for you. Though I think it's why I can't lose weight. (Anything for an excuse! haha.)
@firemanslady: I recently got off Yaz because I felt it was stopping me from losing weight. After 4 months of watching my eating and working out with a trainer, my weight and fat percentage stayed exactly the same. I've been off Yaz for about a month and a half and my weight has dropped...without putting a foot in the gym.
There are so many options out there that if you ever have any concerns, do talk to your doctor. Different types of BC do different things to people. When I went on Yaz I didn't get the migraines that I did with my other pill but I also put on weight that most women don't experience. Go firgure.
I am on Yasmin and it works for me - if it worked for you before why don't you go back to it?
I use the nuva ring and I love it! Put it in, forget about it for three weeks, take it out, have your visitor, and repeat. It's easy and I honestly had the least side effects on it!
After being on various pills over almost 8 years, I'm really not a fan of hormonal BC at all. What about spermicidal foams/ gels and condoms? It's SO nice to not have the weight gain, moodiness, migraines, etc. associated with those little pills!

After I had my son I had an IUD put in. It ended up coming out, and now I don't know what to use. I used to be on Yasmine before I got pregnant, and it was ok. I tried Yaz, and that was no good for me. I recently tried the generic of Yasmine, and was HORRIBLY moody and gained TONS of weight!! Are there any suggestions for a good, relatively side-effect free (!) BC? I do want my period every month also! :) What about the Nuva Ring?
