I am a bit of a control micro managing monster.  WOW that sounds quite terrible doesn’t it?  Bee’s hear me out please Tongue out

I am terrible with delegation. I have worked at a management level position for 6 yrs and only 2 of those years did I take advantage of having an assistant.  Reason being – I want to know how things are getting done, the timely manner in which they are getting done, what resources are being used, what resources aren’t being used - I think you get where I am going.  When I don’t know or have that information I become overwhelmed w/ extreme levels of stress which in turn causes tremendous anxiety.

As previously mentioned in my ‘how we met’ post AIG14 meet MAH07 from earlier today I shared about my collection of hidden wedding folders in my personal email account.  I have been gathering these folders for approx. 1 yr and 7 months – but who’s counting, LOL  When the time comes to discuss venues, florists, photographers, music, and color schemes, I have narrowed down the research – I don’t want the pressure combo of time and/or indecisiveness to grab hold of the stress/anxiety in me. No Thank You!  In each category above I have 3-4 different options. This way when the time DOES arrive we can make the final decision together – I just got a head start Tongue out

I want and we will have our most perfect day - with all of our t's crossed and our i's dotted - THAT IS FINAL!

Do you have hidden wedding info gathered to save time when the time comes?  Am I going to far and making this about me me me and not us us us?

I think it's a good idea to have a lot of things researched especially if you are going to have a shorter engagement period.  I know how you feel about the controlling micro manager.  I really like to be involved in everything and know how things are being done.

Totally what I did.  I'm a project manager... therefore, I am a self-imposed task master at her finest.  Project manager's really shouldn't be allowed to plan weddings... my head feels like it could implode from the small details I have yet to organize and place in my timeline.  Geesh.

I have a folder on my desktop marked "ONE FINE DAY" & it has a gazillion photo ideas, an ongoing list aka "THE FACT SHEET" of ideas that pop into my head at random parts of the day...I mighttt even have a guest list started :) Included on "THE FACT SHEET" is everyyyy venue I could possibly imagine wanting to have my wedding at....and also two separate folders for DW's that I have considered having if I don't get married in Tampa. By the time I get engaged, I won't NEED a year to plan! :P

@linspurdu: OMG you are soooo right! I'm a project manager too and have put so much on myself, but strangely thrive under the tasks/pressure. It's sick.

@jackie-o: I totally get you with the "lack of information causes anxiety." Because of this I don't think there's anything wrong with planning ahead - I think it's a wise decision!! It will definitely save you time and effort. My fiance is constantly laughing at the fact that I'm not "obsessing" over each and every detail. What I don't tell him is that I've been planning for a while :) Also, if your man is anything like mine, he needs 3-4 options, not 10-11 to choose from. So see, you're totally not making it "me me me" you've got him in mind as well!!!

Of course planning the big stuff ahead may give you a lot of time to focus on details and the thousands of diy projects you could be doing....scary LOL.
