Mold can be a serious problem! You need to tell the homeowners so they can check it out and get it fixed! Depending on the severity of the mold it can cause serious health issues.
If you rent, the people who own the home should have insurance for that. I know i have home insurance for mold infestations. They can really make you sick and turn into something much much worse.
If it's leaking around, chances are it's in the floorboards of your hoem and everything. A professional needs to be called in. For what you can see, bleach should do the trick. Make sure you wear a mask and gloves b/c once you wipe those spores off, they're going to go flying.
I fought a massive fungal infection in my home a year ago. It took MONTHS and MONTHS to rid my house of it.
Invest in a steam carpet cleaner. I have really bad allergies too and it picks up more stuff than you'll ever believe!
You can buy air cleaners like the ones made by Alpine that put out ozone which kills bacteria and mold. To turn it up high enough to kill the mold, you would have to leave the house for a day or two. You can always set it up by the air uptake vent to get the AC/Heat ducts. You should tell the landlord though and have it checked out.
Yeah we have told the landlord and he sent someone to help get the leaks stopped and seal some of the leaks to the outside - there'd been a groundhog and such - but its still in the house. So we're just bleaching away but it always seems to come back
That really is something he should fix
Be careful about doing anything to the house...since you don't own it, he could charge you for damages in the future. It happens!
I agree. Have you been in contact with the owners yet? Other than that, I was able to get rid of mold in San Francisco with a combination of water and bleach. If you're not into bleach (and I totally understand if you're not), try vinegar or hydrogen peroxide.

We just got back from a wonderful honeymoon a little less then a week ago and came back to a house with mold. It's been a bit of an ongoing problem, but gotten worse recently due to previous leaks and current leaks. We rent, and good maintenance on pipes has been a problem in this house, we've lived up here for about a year. We're looking on moving but it's hard to find housing and a lot of people who I've talked to in the area have a similar problem, must be a moldy area. Anyways, I'm allergic, so I was wondering if anyone had good clean up solutions, so my groom can enjoy a non-moldy bride.
