I am SOO tired of this. I have been complaining about my mortgage company (we’ll call them A) so I am sorry that the complaining is continuing.
Basically company A has been unresponsive and continually lying to us about costs, etc. We decided to go to a new company ( company B) and things with them have been great so far. The problem is that company A ordered an appraisal. So now company B can’t order an appraisal for us because our FHA case number is assigned with company A.
We faxed a letter yesterday requesting that the case number be switched and i have been on the phone all day. First getting yelled at by company A for “betraying them”. They also said we didn’t pay for the appraisal so they can’t transfer the case number yet. I said ok, so who do I pay?” and he said “well, there is some paperwork that you need to sign. but I am not sure what that paperwork is. I might know tomorrow. And then you’ll have to give us a credit card number”.
I am just so frustrated because I know they are dragging their feet on this becasue they’re mad. But we can’t move forward with company B because they can’t order an appraisal while we are assigned to another company.
Anyone have any advice? I am so tired of company A and want to just be rid of them. We are supposed to close in 6 weeks and really don’t have time to stall.

That totally sucks. Other than asking to talk to the supervisor I’m afraid I don’t have any advice other than to post wherever you can how vile they are once all this is done.

That really stinks.
If I were you, I’d call Company A every single day. Several times a day, if you’re not getting a response! If they want to try and ignore you… make it difficult to be ignored. 🙂

Holy cow. That seems really odd to me that they’re making it so personal. I agree with Blueshoes2 though. Whenever companies piss me off, I do my best to become their worst nightmare incarnate. Its a pain in the butt but it works. Call repeatedly (call, don’t email… too easy to ignore). Show up if you need to. Threaten to call the BBB. Do what you got to do!

That sucks. Seriously, I’m irritated for you!
I think the best strategy is to bug them to death. Seriously, call every day (multiple times a day if you have to!), ask to speak to managers, etc. I hope it works for you!

Fight, fight, fight! I just won a huge battle with my mortgage company by spending nearly an hour on the phone every day for a week asking for supervisors of supervisors until I got what I needed. It took about 10 minutes to fix the problem when I finally got to the highest levels!

I’m sorry you are having problems. It sounds like you need to keep bothering them until they let you pay for the appraisal so you can transfer it to the other company. Just keep calling them until it’s fixed. Unless there is a local office that you can go to and bother them in person?
