the women here who keep saying i'll get engaged around christmas or valentine's day.. i've gotten that from soooo many people including my mom!!! while it sounds great, i am thinking my birthday because well i'd be a nervous friggin' wreck lol!!!
sorry crebre - guilty as charged!! just trying to keep hope alive!
as for me, not yet. thankfully....
I havent gotten the "itis" yet, but with everyone in my face about BF and I getting engaged for my bday/christmas coming up, I just might have "caught" isthisit-itis for the next month!! eek!
YES!
I so have it! Everyone is saying "I bet its gonna be your birthday or christmas" I'm like will everyone shut up about it! LOL
The more they bring it up the more I think about it.
How to stay sane....
@crebre80, lol, i'm sure i was one of those cheerleaders as well!
but i know how it goes, pretty much everyone besides me and the boy think EVERY visit we have will be THE VISIT. i don't know how much more those people can take. i'm starting to think they would try to make us engagement chicken soon!
@fuschiasparkles and lolaj, i wish there was a way to get everyone else to calm down! that's been my issue too!
@tea: i'm making the e-chicken for thanksgiving again ;) along with mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, dressing, some sweets, lol...
@everyone who gives me isthisit-itis: tee hee i sometimes wonder if y'all can see things that i am not seeing or don't see... like sometimes i read other folks posts and the hints are VERY obvious to me but that person seems oblivious so i wonder if i can't see the hints because i'm here?! i did buy myself a rice cooker yesterday (on sale for five bucks) so i know i won't get the rice cooker, perhaps i'll get a stand mixer that i wanted instead... or something like that.. so those of you that were thinking of the rice cooker with the ring in it i messed that up, but i mean fice bucks?! it would have been gone you know?!
The summer when I was living in Chicago, I thought that the Dude was going to propose to me when he visited for my birthday. OK, more like I WANTED him to, but realistically I didn't really think he was. My roommate at the time kept talking about how he was going to propose to me when he came, blah blah blah. For some reason, I believed him, and it really got in my head! So I was pretty dissappointed when he didn't propose, and then I had to spend the next 3.5 weeks away from him. :(
I unfortunately have the "itis" my mom, friends and family all gave it to me. They are sure that i will be engaged before 2010. I am trying to think the worst so I won't get upset. I just want everyone to leave me alone and talk about something else! UGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
@knelly: i totally agree with everyone else!! lmao i'm one of those posters as well :P i think you are going to be one of the graduates!
crebre - a stand mixer is pretty tricky.....but maybe he'll come up with another clever plan...muahahah
@jaxx: lmao!! belle's story about putting it on a tree garnered very cute grins from him.. so who knows!! i still think it'll be my bday! and honestly around my bday i'll think next christmas, just so i will be totally surprised.. but i am honestly wondering which rings he has narrowed down to his faves, i mean he won't even tell me if i have sent him the pictures or if he found them... but i loved how intent he was when i was showing him the purple stone, it was like really?! omg he's really thinking about it OMG!! lol!!
crebre - tooo funny! i'm about to send my BF an email with all of my stats, likes, dislikes and links to some websites where i've seen stuff i like, so i will totally be in your shoes in about 24hrs! i'm wishfully hoping to be at the tail end of the blitz season (for practical reasons, as my insane travels to Charlotte will probably begin in earnest in March), but i could definitely see him doing it on my birthday as well.
the fact that he's giving you smiles and winks when you're telling him about some of the tricks some boys have played on our fellow bees makes me think you're giving him ideas!! all the better though, right. belle's story cracks me up too.
@jaxx: lol i know right?! i mean i would LOVE that!! my mom has the most beautiful christmas tree ever! i'll take pictures.. it's like 12 feet tall and it looks like a display in a department store. i love sitting there in front of it and the fire and watching christmas movies and anyone who knows me will know that it's the perfect time because it's my FAVORITE day of the year and it has nothing to do with gifts...
That has happened to me twice! Once this past April during Easter. He got down on one knee gave me flowers and was singing and was talking about how beautiful I was and yada yada and the second time was during our 2nd dating anniversary at dinner! I am trying to calm my nerves not be like "itis"!
@carebear: I WOULD KILL HIM. i teased yesterday and twisted an elastic band around my finger and told him now all you have to do is ask, the ring isn't important to me at all. and he just laughed and changed the subject.
No itis yet. Mostly because I know it isn't going to happen before 2010. I'd be super duper surprised to get a proposal before than. Anything close to itis might be the comment his mother made this weekend. She's coming to Cali in May. It's unusual because she normally comes in the summer and spends time with the grandbabies and Mister. May is our 1 year anniversary. Could it be on that date and he's getting everyone together for a huge surprise? Maybe. LOL!!! First case of itis for me.
@91011bride, haha, hopefully the itis won't get too bad for you!
sometimes i feel like it's cheating because i know we won't be getting engaged anytime soon either which is why i haven't joined any of the challenges but this was the first time i ever got that itch!
I have the itis right now. I know that he is planning on proposing by Christmas so anytime within the next month could be the day. I hope that it is sooner than later because I am so ready to spend my life with him.
@truegem: awww how sweet. i bet he's definitely planning something to knock your socks off...
I have a feeling I'm going to be doing this the WHOLE time I'm with J in January and February... unless he proposes at the airport. Which ... I kinda hope he doesn't. I'd kind of like SOME leadup time. :)
I'm a little worried that he feels like we have to get engaged before January 14 when we go up to meet see our parents for a weekend, because he knows I want to book our venues that weekend; is there a kosher way for me to tell him we don't need to be technically engaged to book venues? Without scaring him off or totally destroying the Christmas Challenge?
@DD: use the board, say something like you know what one of the girls on the board booked her venue and she wasn't engaged yet i think that was soo cool and takes the pressure off of everyone...
Nope, although when we were dating for 3 months, my aunt asked if we were getting married. (old school, 51 yr old.LOL)
I have given myself the -itis! Our one year anniversary is next month. He hasn't asked me what I want for Christmas yet, so maybe he is waiting? I really hope it's our anniversary, but I'm trying to avoid thinking about it. I don't want to get my hopes up and then get let down.LOL
Of course I have the "itis!" How could I not?
A. We talked at New year about him proposing this year (2009) and well, there is only so much time left.
B. He has asked my dad - This happened on November 1.
C. A recent conversation we had about how he knows what I want, and that I want it for Christmas!
D. And today - he said he had a surprise for me! Our families are getting together for Thanksgiving at our house... He told me this and then said I was not allowed to guess, so I dropped it. It's probably like a paint brush or something, (I like home improvement!) but I can't help but think... what if this is it?
waterprincess i'm soooo excited for you! even if it's not some bling, i love hearing about surprises!

isthisit-itis, that is.
so i had a planned visit with the boy last week and a few days before i left, his best friend, who is chomping at the bit for us to get engaged, inadvertantly planted the isthisit-itis bug in my head. even though i KNEW we weren't getting engaged that trip [and we didn't, much to her dismay, lol], i still couldn't help but wonder for a brief moment. thankfully i was able to push it out of my mind before it did any real damage!
has someone else ever infected you with isthisit-itis?
