I want to know the man with the golden arm story (note: not the one about the man whose wife had a golden arm, he dug it up, etc). My dad promised that he would tell me on our father daughter trip to the US 13 years ago, promised my sister he would tell her when he took her a few years later, still hasn’t told us. I don’t know if he ever will. All he told me was something to do with a massacre in the University of Wyoming in the 60s (I am not sure if this is true, I couldn’t find it anywhere) and that it was a ghost story he heard in the Boy Scouts.
Does anyone know this story? It’s driving me crazy!

The only other version of that story I’ve ever heard is about the man with a golden arm who lived in a small village. After he died a man broke into his coffin and stole his arm.
(as you’re sitting arround the campfire) the narrator says that the man started hearing a male voice . . give me back my arm. . who has my arm??
after dragging it out for a few minutes the narrator picks a random child and points at them yelling “YOU TOOK MY ARM”
and it’s supposed scare the entire group

Oh my goodness! My Dad would tell us this story at my sleepovers, and now I can’t remember it to save my life! I’ll have to ask him about it when I speak with him tomorrow. But, I do know it’s not the premise you have, since his was told to him in the 1940s/early 1950s.

Finally figured it out! And dad told me the ‘Laramie twist’. A man has a golden arm, and whenever he shook hands with people they were fascinated with the golden arm. He finally died, and was buried with his golden arm. One man in the village went home after the funeral and kept thinking about the golden arm and how much he wanted it. So he went out in the darkness and dug it up and took it home. He put it under his pillow and tried to sleep. He heard a noise come up the front porch of his house, his door opened. A voice said ‘who has my golden arm?’ he tried to push it out but it wouldn’t go away. The Laramie twist was that he went along White Hall dormitory knocking on doors, looking for his golden arm, whoever answered he killed
