Im planning a ceremony in a national park (Rainier) were my guests will stay about 3 days doing stuff like hiking, BBQs and that kinda thing. I wanted ideas on what to give them as a gift in their welcome bag thingy that wasnt stuff like sunscreen, brochures/maps, toiletries etc.

@leporidae: I don’t know how your sense of humor works…but I’ve been to a lot of weddings with the welcome bag thingie, and they’re all kind of the same..so I give them a cursory glance and start jumping on the hotel bed….I would have my socks knocked off if the following was in a bag:
Bear fog…since we are in the woods
A dorky plastic compass, the likes of which would originate from a Craker Jacks box, cause hey, getting lost is ALWAYS an option
Silly putty is a classic that never dies, along with the mini-yo-yo and those sticky creeper things you throw at the wall and they half stick, half fall down it.
One bottle of soda from a foreign land…to make things interesting and challenge your guests to try new things.
..and a box of waterproof matches, just to make them wonder a little bit

@Nona99: Intersting ideas! I think if you gave my Mother-In-Law the matches and compass it’d scare her. Shes from NY and is not a woodsy person AT ALL. Hmm…Ill prolly just stick that stuff in her bag to mess with her! lol
What’s “bear fog”? Bear repellant?

I love this thread – I was just trying to come up with creative things!
I don’t know how unique/creative this is, but I’m going to put a kit with an eye mask, ear plugs, advil, etc – the ultimate hangover kit! I’m also including a local magazine and am searching for local goodies. If you have any fun suggestions I’d love to hear!

@leporidae: I’m doing a welcome cup instead of a bag cause we are giving our guests travel mugs for our destination wedding in Cuba. In the womens cups I’m putting, pocket size hand sanitizer in a beach theme scent (thank you bath and body works), a pack of tissues (sometimes tolilet paper is lacking in the public washrooms), some pepto pills (for upset tummies of hangovers) and a few small treats like chocolate for cravings lol. Also I got a tag made to attach to the cup which is a welcome note on one side and some spanish word translations on the other side. The mens cups will have mini tabasco sauces, pepto pills and some treats also. I will be giving the kids that come a bag of treats (chocolates and candies) and some activity books.

@leporidae: ooh! I’d include a flint and steel and a rope bracelet! Adding in a little hiking gear can’t hurt. XD What an amazing wedding location!
