My fiance has asked me to take care of finding gifts for both sets of our parents, as well as the bridal party, to give them at the rehearsal dinner as a “thank you.” I have NO CLUE what to do for his father. Here’s what we’re giving everyone else, for context:
Maid/Matron of Honor – coach wristlet; earrings
Bestman – https://www.etsy.com/transaction/82892332?transaction_id=82892332&utm_source=transaction&utm_medium=trans_email&utm_campaign=purchase_buyer
MOB/MOG – Panora bracelets with 1-2 charms on them
FOB – concert tickets
I’ve asked my fiance, his mother, and my mother for ideas. The only suggestion I’ve received (from both fiance and his mother) is a Home Depot gift card. Now, Future Father-In-Law LOVES Home Depot. He would love and use a gift card to there. But isn’t that too impersonal? Any other suggestions? Standbys like watches, cufflinks, etc. won’t work for us – Future Father-In-Law has them already, and much nicer than we can afford to give him. Help!

He loves Home Depot? Maybe get him a personalized leather tool belt or something?

I know you said no cuff links, but it worked for us. FI’s dad has a million cufflinks, but he wears suits a lot for work. We got him VERY unique cufflinks, they are actually TCU ones (all his kids, besides Fiance, went to school there and hes super loyal to the school). He knows about it and can’t WAIT to open them. So, I don’t know if that’s an option, just getting something he already has, like cufflinks, but adding a really personal twist to it?

FIL’s gift from us was a desk clock/pen holder engraved with “Thank you for always taking the time.” It took us forever to find something!! I definitely empathize with you. Can you share some more of his hobbies or job or something else about him? A Home Depot gift card does seem kind of impersonal… Maybe you guys could make a creative gift card holder or get the tool belt like PP suggested and put the gift card in there.

In terms of hobbies, he likes woodworking (ergo Home Depot), working on his truck and fifth wheel, and golfing. He’s very into cars, and always has been.
I like the idea of a desk clock, but I’m not sure if he has one for his work office. There isn’t a place for one in the home office. Hrm…maybe Future Mother-In-Law knows.
