I have two good friend who are newly engaged and I wanted to make a little “engaged kit” for them both. Both girls are about a year away from their dates. So far I thought a subscription to and copy of a bridal magazine, stamps and cute thank you cards, a baby toothbrush and tiny bottle of dish soap (for ring cleaning), and maybe a little day planner? Anybody else have any great ideas? What did you wish you had starting out?

Those customized hangers going around might be a good gift so they have something nice to hang their wedding dress on! The thank you cards seem maybe a little off though. I’m sure they will want to pick their own. A nice journal would be good, so they can write about their experience or just keep wedding notes in it. Maybe a wedding organizer?

That sounds like a lot already. I do have an idea though. Are in into DIY? Maybe you could make them your own little book on Bride 101. It could have websites you like. What different wedding terms mean? Best places to shop both online and stores. The possibilities are endless. But it might start turning into a wedding magazine. Anyway, just an idea.

Maybe a gift certificate for a mini facial or manicure. A robe would be nice too. A night at the movies for the couples can be pretty good just so the guys are included in the gift too. AMC sells certificates for a movie, popcorn and drink. I’m sure other theaters have something similar.

I think instead of a subscription to a bridal magazine you should get them the Knot Book! It is so cute and such a great little gift idea! My sister gave it to me when I first got engaged!!

That is such a cute idea – I think a little etiquette handbook could be a nice touch too!

I actually made a basket for my cousin from all the bridesmaids and I put a wine bottle with two glasses and all those goodies you mentioned (including post it notes so she could tab stuff in wedding mags) but I dressed up the bottle like a bride. I bought tulle and little pearls and made the bottle look like a wedding dress and placed it in the basket. I most post a picture if I can find it. Everyone loved it 🙂

I think your ideas are great already! If you are still looking for something to include – how about a bottle of wine or any other treats you know your friend would enjoy. (Love, love, love the ring cleaning tools – maybe include instructions on how to best clean the ring!). One of those timeline planner things may be helpful too (what to do 12 months out, etc.)
….you could also give them lists of your favorite wedding related websites (aka: WB!) That would be an enormously helpful resource!

So I know I’m raising this post from the dead, but one of my favorite gifts that a friend gave me right after we got engaged was a wine glass that said “bride” all over it and it has solitaire engagement rings painted all over it. I love wine and get a kick out of drinking from it! (:
